[Funk House] DarkSword ft. Ben Smith - Shattered - 192kbps full
Hey. I started on this house song a while ago and just now got around to working on it. It is featuring Ben Smith, a great guy who is the one that made this great drum loop for me
. I'm thinking I might make this the instrumental mix and add vocals later, who knows. Please tell me how I can improve this song though
. Oh, and one point, I know its a little repetative but I think (not positive of course) this is how this genre is supposed to go. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

- nice fx in the background. the intro sounds pretty nice overall
- i don't really like the bassline. it doesnt seem to fit this particual style
- those melodies are actually pretty nice after listening for a while, thought the synth seems a bit muted
- you ought to add more percs and make the kick stronger
- definatly keep working on this, give more attention to detail, work with the bass some more.
- i think some of the repetitiveness can be fixed by adding more percc and progression within.
Hey. Thanks for the post. I somewhat agree with you but I'm not sure what would actually fit in this piece. Though, I dont think I could make the kicker harder without blowing out some subwoofers lol. I'm not sure what you listened to the song with but the kick has a thick deep end
. Thanks for the post though. I'll take the points into consideration.
Cheers,
Zac

Hi,
Very nice overall structure and beat. The prelude seems like it could use some synths or something to compliment all those low freqs. I would agree the kicks aren't noticable enough, it needs more decay, but perhaps it matches this style, like daft punk with their 80sish house. I'm nota huge fan of rock music, but the melody is decent. It could use more syncopation and swing to make it more funky. The transitions are not that noticable to me, perhaps they could be more clearly accentuated, with fx or something. But I would have to restate the kicks seem kind of weak. Good job, though.
Sounds pretty cool. I would try to go for more of a Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello sounds to it. they get a little dirtier on their basslines and I think that woudl sounds mint in this.
thats all I got.
Hey. Thanks for the posts. I'll try doing a syncopated bass rythm tonight. I'll probably go for something like Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok. I also tried using the intro grunge synth throughout the entire song without a hipass filter on it and it ended up making the entire song way too muddy, which is why its sitting on top of a hipass filter
. I'll also see about laying my own kick over the song to beef up the current kick. I'll try to post an update either tonight or tomorrow some time. Thanks again for the comments
.
Cheers,
Zac
