Anyone use Endnote referencing program?

Hopefully someone uses this software.....

I've had Endnote installed on my computer since the start of the year and used it with no problems, however I went to do an assignment a couple of weeks ago and the toolbar had disappeared, and there was no option in the toolbars menu.

I reinstalled Endnote, reinstalled the .dot file like they say, still no luck. I now have a toolbar, but no buttons!

I'm fucked if I can't get this sorted, so please, does anyone have any ideas? (preferably people who have used this before)

no idea sorry hehe. i just spend 2 hours typing them up manually like it looks in the journal been looking into trying it out though, i think we have it at uni. does it have shareware or a trial or something?

Your uni probably has a license allowing students to d/l it from the uni website.

It makes things a hell of a lot easier, especially if you have around 70 references (and increasing)..............

haha i know it literally took me 2 or 3 hours to type up my references in a essay last year! i think most of it was font and stuff though. ill check out that licensing thing though

i should post some of them up

Posted by Trance Nutter on Jun-14-2005 14:18:

You won't understand the title.

but:
Identifying the Molecular Basis of the Antiproliferative Actions of NSAIDs

(thats simplified by the way)

haha wtf does that mean

Posted by Trance Nutter on Jun-14-2005 14:23:

Identifying = finding
the = the
Molecular basis = what happens inside a cell
of the = of the
Antiproliferative actions = stopping cancer cells growing
of
NSAIDs = a type of drug

so.............
Finding what happens inside a cell when you stop cancer cells growing using a drug.

working on an orthopedic/oncology ward i do understand
im not blonde u know

but it seems better than
"foreign bodies in the river of sound- seeking identity and irish traditional music"

or

"ego identity amoung young people in spanish speaking latin american immigrant families in melbourne, aust."

^^ thats like my kicking back with my family and writing about identity issues amoung maltese ppl

which version are you using? 6, 7, 8?

if nothing else works could always remove both endnote and word (most likely office) and reinstall both from scratch.

i take it you've read through the endnote FAQs?

Posted by ProDiGaL on Jun-15-2005 00:47:

we use endnote and let me tell you Im sick of fixing problems with the fkr.

the usual way we go about it is to reinstall office and then endnote, and it usually picks it up, but there is a manual way. Ill post back in 5 mins, just gotta remember how to do it again.

Posted by ProDiGaL on Jun-15-2005 01:09:

yeah re-installing is the best way to go, but if that doesnt work, there is a butcher job way outlined here:

http://www.endnote.com/support/faqs/enfaq7.asp#winEN567

goodluck

Yeah, tried reinstalling the program five or six times, reinstalling the .dot files etc (many times as well), everything in that FAQ

Next step is to reinstall Office and go from there.

If that doesn't work, panic time

Thanks for the help though, good to know I'm not the only one with problems with this program

Its a real whore of a program I know (hence my sympathy), I think there is one more thing to try, one of the techs here knows more about it than me, ill get back to you when i get in touch with him.
