pvd review.

well, I certainly liked it.

too tired for a tracklist, but the most memorable for me was

active sight - out of our lives

ugh! <3

Posted by pyro on Jun-17-2005 16:27:

I thought it was an ok set, i did like some of the older tracks he played but i certainly did not like him ending almost an hour early! compared to armin which i saw three weeks ago paul looks like a statue up there, barely any hand gesturing or smiles.

armin > paul. my opinion only though

above & beyond and bt in a little more than month, YAY!

Posted by MAINER on Jun-17-2005 19:53:

nice

looks like a not bad set!!he play his remix of say hello?

Posted by neoh on Jun-17-2005 19:58:

no.

I also wanted him to play the unknown, and alive but NOOO!

alright.

you do the play list.

Posted by Mark on Jun-17-2005 23:57:

he did not play whiteroom - whiteroom unless he played it while i was smoking outside. i only went out once and i don't recall hearing it from outside. the kva tune was not a pvd rework. nothing but you sounded like a new remix but i could be wrong on this one as i am only closely familiar with the vandit club mix.

it was so packed last night i could barely go anywhere in the club. it was even more packed than armin. i had fun last night. i am really glad he played nothing but you. it was the tune i came to hear.

yeah.. i'm surprised i saw u and phu, was glad got a chance to say hello. good seeing danny and kerry there, as well as marty & adam. bad neoh didn't say hi didn't see mirka, was pretty sad about that.

great night, great tunes, good flow, excellent mixing. was pretty packed, which is great to see but harder to enjoy the event imo, but that's didn't get me down, still great night! wish g/f could have come. good meeting fishaa (mark) and getting to officially meet tiestofan (naz) and not-poster cameron.

Well, PVD was just as I expected him to be!! I really wish he could have played longer. 2am crept up sooo damn quickly! His mixing, in my opinion, he is the best mixer in the world! Unbelievable mixing!!!

I know for sure he didn't play adrenaline, or whiteroom, and I think it was the original remix of The Other Side, check his set from the DL section, the Deep Dish remix is alot slower and waaaaay more bassy.

This was the exact kinda set I was expecting to hear from PVD! Nothing to hard or charging, although that's what I would've preffered, but hey, I think Vancouver is just a stop on his tour and it's not like he's playing for 50'000 people and has to kill it! I was most happy to hear him play Nothing But You, and For an Angel, and In Silence. I was standing at the bar when I heard In Silence come on, and I started freaking out! I was next to this HAWWWWWT girl and I couldn't tell her enough how badly I wanted to get away from the bar and onto the floor! Track was almost over by the time I got back out there, ARGH!

I soon realized that the dancefloor had some SHITASS quality sound out there. I found myself on the outskirts of the floor and the sound was Amazing!

I got to meet a few more TA's which was awesome. Jordi, thanks man for selling me the ticket, Zack and Joe, you guys know how to party and I'm sure we'll do it again sometime. Andrew, lol, glad there's no hard feelings, nice meeting you too.

All in all, I had a great time! Lots of good lookin ladies, cool people, I still don't what's up with the fucking group of Asians that decide to hang on to each other for dear life and swing each other around... right in the middle of the dancefloor? I had enough of them doing it, so I decided to keep my hands in the air, and... "accidentally"... keep elbowing them in the head until they spead out. HAHAHAHA, they looked pretty pissed at me, but fuck it.

Posted by spinswax on Jun-18-2005 01:59:

he also played:

Sandr van Doorn "Dark Roast"

I am pretty sure I heard Randy Katana in there as well as four strings "take me away - but maybe I was halluciating????

Overall a good show. I tried to keep a low pro and failed miserably

Posted by apri_peel on Jun-18-2005 02:15:

nope, no whiteroom there

um, the swinging people on E were ticking me off too but i spent most of the time upstairs, better view of the club, more room to breathe and move, better crowd heh and the sound was great up there too.

the guy who opened for pvd was pretty good. i wonder who he was, he was playing some cool tunes.

pvd was great too. he played everything that defines trance. not a single bad tune, a nice flawless set. the minimal crowd interaction kinda sucked, but thats what pvd is like. you get an occasional smile from him, but other than that, he doesnt jump around and wave his hands in the air like armin and ferry do. altho, i think i caught him smile when i took a pic of him. i havent ul'ed my pictures yet i'll do that asap after i deal with john digweed pics.

it was also nice to meet a couple of new TAs (new to me ) and see some old faces, like rob who i havent seen in ages.

twisted did a nice job on promoting the event. and thank god for the opened top floor!

once again, thanks to ray and tequila for getting me to the show

I had a great time as did my friend who had never been to something like this. danced almost the whole time. sorry that I missed the meetup but the clubvibes person wasn't to be found for our tickets. ugh it wsa hard being outside when the music could be heard from outside. PVD was great all the way home had his mixmag cd in cranked. i'm looking foreward to the many more events this summer and next time i'll get early enough to meet some more ta's

Posted by Mortyman on Jun-18-2005 02:36:

Oh yeah, most devastating part of the night...

when I was getting searched at the door... don't ask me how... but the guy found my 1 and ONLY joint, in my hidden pocket, in my winter coat, that has like 10 pockets. He didn't even feel where I had my CD's stuffed. How the hell did he find it?
I even pleaded with the guy, told him that it was for afterwards, for when I had to WALK home! I almost begged him, but he said he had to take it. I was soooo sad!
Security at the door.... THEY'RE GOOOOOOOOD!

hallucinating hun.

Maybe he played
Teddy Ring vs Tijs Verhoeven - hornet, not a remix of mauro.

hahaahhah too funny .

HAHAHAHA ive seen that crew at a couple parties... it almost hurts to watch but thats just how they dance. Sometimes like they're trying to rip eachothers limbs right off... wonder how they feel the next day, we should refer to it as Chiropractic dancing (lol)

As far as the mixing, no doubt hes got experience, but did anybody take a look at the program he was usin on the lap top???? Pretty basic set up.

I thought april peels reviews were on the money as far as pvd and the crowd. The odd smile thats what you'd expect. And the veniew was alittle more wide open then previous events ive seen there.

All in all im not dissapointed, nor impressed (about the dj)but
All the PEOPLE were great. Sometimes you just cant stop smiling, and those memories keep that smile on your face!
Cheers to all , see you around
no bad days....

How many beers had you had by that point? lol

I'm positive it was Someday (instrumental mix)
I didn't leave the club the entire time and would have KNOWN if this was played, I was paying attention to Every track, and Whiteroom, it's a great track, one I wouldn't forget.
Someday sounds sooooooo much like Whiteroom, that's why I'm not a fan. It can be easily mistaken....

Posted by Phu on Jun-18-2005 06:48:

The last song he played is an oldskool song called condor you can kiss my ass new remix?

they took my last one too but good thing i had one outside and friends had some inside.

i'm sure some of you are mixing whiteroom up with the tail-end of someday which sound so similar.

paul van dyk was using final scratch 2 on his laptop. yes, mp3's y0!

last tune brought back so many memories haha...

Posted by anjew on Jun-18-2005 08:38:

I drank a lot i'll admit that lol.
but he played it! Iwas standing beside him when he played it and in my drunken rage i yelled out white room and he smiled lol.

maybe he smiled because he thought you meant whiteroom as in the artist for someday.
