Hello! The AU.TA Movies Thread

Batman Begins

Watched this last night and it fkn owns.

While Frank Miller's Batman: Year One is the film's most obvious inspiration, Batman Begins borrows a number of elements, moments, characters and images familiar to longtime fans of the comics. Besides the obvious influences of Miller, Denny O'Neil, Archie Goodwin, Len Wein, Steve Englehart, and Paul Dini, there are nods to everything from Batman: Shaman to The Long Halloween to the "Cataclysm" storyline. And, as shown in Batman: Year Two, the onscreen Bruce realizes that killing is not the way to attain his revenge (something that Batman did in Tim Burton's films).

This version removes a lot of the sensational side of the Batman story seen in previous movies and the tv show. Best version so far, imo.

my review here.

...

Look out for Scarlett Johanssons new flick The Island. Looks wicked. Trailer here.

Sex and Zen what a movie.

Synopsis:
A man marries a beautiful wife, but decides to go out and experience as many sexual conquests as possible, with unusual and often hilarious results. Meanwhile, his wife is forced to enter a brothel and work as a prostitute. After a series of adventures, the couple is reunited. An international hit featuring a funny plot and lots of eroticism.

The flute scene in this is enough for the hire alone. Nuff said.

Finally the second installment of the well loved original!

Mirrorman, and most of the Melb TA's take it to teh next level in a "NO HOLES BARRED" porn equivalent of Star Wars episode 2 - now thats GAY! ever read the book? wondering if it's any good. i hear the movie is set in a different era though.

Posted by Light The Fuse on Jun-18-2005 07:57:

nah havent read the book, seen the old 1950's version (about a zilllion times when i was a a kid)

in the 30's war of the worlds was a radio show - it was done in a sort of 'newsflash' style and peoPLe took it seriously. PeoPLe were shooting at random shit in the streets because they really thought that the martians were coming. - there was a movie about that too.

e-book for war of the worlds here.

finally a film worth watching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gotta see this one, batman looks pretty cool as well

and if the new willy wonka movie doesn't have any murderous villains in it i'll be greatly disappointed. i always used to say to my brother when we watched the original, i wish that kid had gone through the fan when he drank the soda. years later doctors will tell me i have an IQ of 41 and am what some people might call, mentally retarded.

Just saw "There's Something About Mary" for the first time the other night. Pretty funny flick, which is expected I suppose for a Farrelly Brothers' production.

I don't think Ben Stiller has progressed too much as an actor since then. Liked him in Dodgeball and Meet The Parents though.

Posted by Paulie on Jun-18-2005 08:44:

Seen the trailer of WIlly Wonka, fucken johnny Depp looks scary as!

Posted by eRRaTiK on Jun-18-2005 09:04:
