Icone Feat Shyenne - Sorrow (Vocal Mix)
Long time no hear I think! Time for a preview of a new track... I've uploaded a lofi full version of the Vocal Mix of my first release at Abora Recordings to my server. Featuring vocals and vox parts by Sarah Guy aka Shyenne.
You can get the track here:

Let me know what you think
Bye,
Wim
PS: updated versions now online!
gorgeous melody
good production too, i love that bassline
i don't like the piano at all though, sounds too artificial. the breakdown is rather long as well.. that's not really going to please the crowd on the dancefloor
the vocals are ok
nice track overall, but i feel there's more you can do with it
10/10
This is a beautiful track, I'd give it ten out of ten koolaid guys.
Keep up the good work, I look foward to hearing more.
-Alex
Sarah is helping lots of us out, cool to see. Planning to work on 'Cloudland' tomorrow.
On topic now
. Wim I really like the full sound of this, and I'm glad it sounds nice at 96 kbps, tho it's a bit wetttt... and so it seems the lead and vocal could be more defined. But there's a good drive in it and I love the stabby acid synth. You added some elements since the last time I listened to Sorrow.. nice arp.
(I have a n old version on my disk maybe).
Sarah does her job well with just what I'm used to hear from her: subtle soft voice and whispers to a track. Now in my opinion her voice is better off in more in the trance breaks, laidback trance and progressive/chill tracks, so not the uplifting part. But that's just a question of making choices I guess.
The track itself was impresse and still is. I like the rework, as I haven't heard it yet.
Good luck with it, if you've found a destination for it.
-Jay
The dada da dad dada vocal is not in sync.
Production is top notch as ever...
- Bass that filters in is too low (frequency wise when it filters up i mean)
- Someone said the dada da da vocals are out of time, i have to agree!
- The bass seems to stoppy-starty, i think it could flow better
- When it all kicks in, sounds clean as fuck!
- Overall mate only a few minor issues, but its good
Shep
Thanks for the comments guys
Will probably be adjusted here and there before doing something serious with it though.
Breakdown is idd quite long, was to fit all of the verses in, maybe I'll cut on it a bit. Which stabby vocal do you guys mean, can you give me a time?
Hey,
I guess they mean the chopped voice that first occurs just before 28 sec into the song it is used many times troughout the song later.
Indeed it's not synced to the rhythm.
More comment on the voice from me though, at 4:08 , 4:22 and 4:36 the words that are spoken just don't match the dreamy voice in the other parts , they seem out of place, followed directly at 4:41 with out of synced chopped voice ... that part ain't so great.
For the comment i read about the bassline, i must disagree . The bassline flows the way it should. In a Large Club this would sound just ... it adds speed and energy
I could imagine this being playing in the "dearly departed" Zillion Club in Antwerp.
Even more comment though , between 5:21 and 5:22 the strings just go away for a second, ... it's so unlike strings to do that ... just imo.
All in all , i still like the track a lot. High grade Trance from Belgium (my home country also) , and it's NOT m.i.k.e !
Sorry to go on like this ... great work dude... i'll visit yar site l8r.
One question if i may , did you record the vocals yourself , @ home ? or what studio ? I've got a great female singer , but no facilities ... thx
hey groundzero!
i'm not expert at working with vocals yet, so the first tracks might indeed need some tweaking. it was the intention of giving the vocals alot of variety though. my vocalist recorded the vocals for this track in her own studio and sent the to me via cd-r.
i did notice the out of sync part, will look into that - won't be too much work i think. at 5:20 is indeed a small error; didn't notice it when exporting, it should actually come a bar later when the pluck builds up.
thx for the pointers!
// Wim
i love the voice!
nicely done mate!
and indeed that first chopped ah-vocal isn't exactly in synch with the beat.
Nice break! maybe you could replace the piano with a guitar? It reminds me of envio - sunset highway.
keep it up m8
nice work there wim, melody is great, bassline is fantastic.. just as everyone said the timing on the vocals with a bit of adjustment.. fine fine tune man, great work.
Lets have a listen then
, abora == connected...or im a wrong?
Listening
, again that banging icone kick and those nice acids, your acids are always banging. I agree with everyone else with the first vocal stab, it is not in key with the beat
.
Ah the arp
, i was waiting for that. I think the pads are a bit to overwhelming, arp is barely hearable. I should look at those pads, they dont sit very fine in the mix for some reaon, dont know why. Break now.
Nice chords, im not to keen on vocals in general, i rather keep it to just stabs and choirs
, but these are ok. Melody is awesome as usual, very catchy. Break is indeed very long, i can remember a pretty old track by u which also had a very long braek, icone - wonder if im not mistaken
.
Seriously...drop the vocal haha i dont like it, the rest is great. I know it is harsch to drop the vocal but at least also make a dub version of it
Stijn
Hey, thanks for further comments!
I'll definately also make a dub mix with only the vox parts, since I know some people don't really like vocals in general. That way I'll also be able to cut the breakdown a bit shorter like in the original. I'll also remove the volume effect on the first vox, I reckon it sounds better without it after all.
Bye,
Wim
good stuff wim, can't really add anything else.
the out of sync kinda vocals, you can fix that by running the fl sampler thru the lfo and link to bpm so it chops on beat if you wish.
bass + kick are really good, production is generally really good and clean aside from the minor technical issues. not a huge fan on the melody, but it is very well done
Thx guys
I'm on it!
listens*
nice drive, great quality..
niice effects..
the vocals are great..
good melody..
the vocals doesnt fit this kinda track in my opinion..
if u dont mind, i would like to remix this one...
and i think Icone feat Shyenne - Sorrow would be an more appropriate name (spell)
otherwise good work
Hello!
This track is good. But I've heard better from u.
Her vocals is nice. Like the feeling in her voice!
Good luck!

Hey Wim!
What can I say! Top notch production as ever. That bassline is awesome, really drives the track along at a rate of knots. The acid sounds really add to this too...
I think the vocal effects in the intro (the doo-doo's and dah-dahs
) should be more subtle. Melody is good as as the synths, but we've come to expect that from you now.
All in all. Great work, and thanks for sharing!
(this is the same vocalist that did the vocals in your remix of Diamond Dust, right?)
Definately top notch. Gave me shivers a couple of times.
I can't find anything wrong with it. Great performance by the vocalist too!
Any chance I could get my hands on a higher bitrate mp3?
Hey it's Sarah
I didn't think the do do do's were out of sync at all
Either way I love the song Wim. You know that
Thanks all, much appreciated!
I'll post an updated version soon, as well as a dub remake. I'm happy with the way the vox'es are now though. No higher bitrate version yet as long as it's unfinished and unreleased, sorry...
Sarah indeed did the sweet vocals in my Diamond Dust remix as well!
// Wim
PS: Hi Sarah
great job Wim once again,
also sweet vocals in there,
can't suggest too much what already have been said, i would use some reversed aahs in a few places, though,
looking forward to the updated version and the dub,
keep it up!
Peter
Great track!
I liked the melody, and the vocals, best part was the bassline
