Mandarine Girl is without a doubt my favorite of the three tracks here. A massive techhouse dancefloor bomb!

quote:
Get Physical's ace production masterminds return with their first original release since 'Vertigo' at the start of 2004. The partnership of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier is responsible for the sound of much of the label, producing releases for M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T and Chelonis R. Jones since its conception in 2002. Their debut album 'Memento' was widely revered in electronic music circles, and spawned two fantastic remix packages featuring Chlo, Ada and Marco Passarani. On 'Memento' they observed a healthy balance between pop appeal and experimentation, concocting unusual blends of modern 4/4 sketches and timeless listening pieces. Since its release, the duo has concentrated on captivating live audiences around Europe. Their dancefloor allure comes from enthralling live percussion, musical passion and cinematic visuals combining for an electric performance that left a recent London audience baying for more.

Here, Booka Shade move closer than ever to the peaktime dancefloor with a track that's a highlight of their live show. 'Mandarine Girl' was inspired by a special night they shared in 1993, at Sven Vath's legendary techno club The Omen. There Walter encountered a smiling beauty who came out of the writhing crowds and put something in his mouth, a sweet segment of juicy mandarine, then with a look she danced away never to be seen again. Engaging chords, electronic bleeps and snares set a mood of anticipation, gradually building excitement with trademark percussive textures and soaring melody. Driving bass and warm fx gather strength around the sultry lead melody as 'Mandarine Girl' reaches its peak with sexy synths and ensnaring electro beats.

On the flip, 'Triple Identity' sees a favourite track from the album breathed with new life. Low slung bass and bristling electronic percussion combine with lush tones and distinctive analogue bassline for a cut that's darker and sexier for the floor.

Finally, 'Point Break' is the second of the tracks written specially for their live show. A bed of rising atmospheres and clicking percussion opens out with the simple vocal and infectious bouncy melody at its heart. Scattered snares, twinkling fx and bubbling bass come together with Booka Shades exquisite production for effortless dancefloor synergy.

Very good record. I also like the Body Language track they've produced with M.A.N.D.Y.
