Downloading now, I'll review in depth later.
Edit:
I don't know, maybe I'm getting used to any sort of intro in the mixes, but this one does not have one, that is a point less from me, but that is just a matter of personal taste, so don't take it as it was just wrong not having a little introduction.
1) This song I liked is really banging, at least you started with a good track to keep me playing it, oh no, it was the first three minutes, then it became too happy, too cheesy. Transition from this track to the next is pretty good but you gotta have the volume of the upcoming track lower than the track playing until is time for the upcoming track to play alone.
The perfect mix is obtained when you can not tell when the beat of the upcoming track is being crossfaded, that is obtained in many ways, just like I said or fading the second track at full volume but having it with the bass ratio decreased, so the two kicks won't sound like they are fighting each other.
2) Nice track here, really hard trancer, and this one is not cheesy at all, good choice.
Beatmatching from this track to the next was average, like I said before, you can tell when the kick of the next track is being played.
I know is hard, is something that myself find sometimes hard to accomplish.
On a side note: the overall quality of the mix is really poor, sounds like it was converted at 92 Kbps instead of 128.
3) Third track is nice, just too happy and again too cheesy again, I don't know, there are several hard trancers that keep their hard oriented essense without being necessarily cheesy, casual clubbers won't find anything wrong in that, this kind of mix for commercial uses is just fine, but for hardcore ravers, this mix wouldn't do it.
Let's check out track 4.
4)Not track 4 but the entire mix is clipping constantly.... maybe is it overcompressed, I say because I hear clipping in this mix, and the only reason for that , is that you use compression in your mixes, could be something else?
I wouldn't compress the mix, basicly because the oroginal tracks are already compressed, the only thing you need to do is volume leveling.
This track is banging...
5) Damn this track sounds like Eurodance...
Plus clipping is heard all over the place.
6) Look at number 5...
.....
From this point I really lost interest on keep playing it.
Final Word:
A) For commercial parties:
The selection of tracks are good , casual clubbers will find your set quite enjoyable, if spinning for radio, definately don't edit your mix compressing it, at least not, if you don't really know what you are doing.
B) For raves:
The selection of tracks are poor, you won't get good reviews posting it here at TA, for the simple fact this community is all about harcore ravers , listeners, we hate cheesy tracks, and we don't quite enjoy them at any situation.
So, you must first train yourself on selecting songs according to what kind of party or streaming you are going to play them.
thank you. I need that advice. This is what I need to hear to improve myself. About the sound quality, I record my mixes using
Adobe Audition. From now on I will use Sound Forge 7.0. and I will work on my mixing and track selection. hopefully my next mix will be much better. Thanks again Alex Z.
ok I'm listening to your mix.
Ya I kinda agree with PDM, intros, while not necessary, are definitely a plus. They're fun! you can make your own, or you can search on the internet for a really cool sample to stick in there!
and the quality on this is too low, it's only 128. That there's radio quality. as you said, use sound forge.
oh and what medium are you using? all vinyl, cds..?
First track is a good song, mixing is fine, second song though, (don't take this the wrong way) made me laugh. 2nd mix sounded kinda short.
3rd song is kinda too light for hard trance really. a lot of songs here are. but that's ok if that's what you're going for!
hm near the end the energy kinda goes down with the last track. personally i'll never bring the energy down, i'll keep going up and up and end with a bang.
well good job and hoped this helped a bit, good luck with everything!

post review in the morning
first of all how long u been mixing 4???
anyway ignore the mixing for a bit.
first of all u gotta programme a set.....if i was given those set of tunes i would have put them in a different order
cos what u have done is wind down your set.....its ok if u play for a longer period to do this but you only mixed for an hour
id have the tracks in this order
Flash Brothers - Amen
Fred Baker vs Keyboard Kids - All Of Us (Fred Baker Remix)
Clokz - Overdrive
The Freak Pres Exo - Above The Clouds (Mark Norman Remix)
Mark Sherry - Vengence
Soulseekers - Innocent Child (Mike Nero Mix)
Spiritual Project - Any More (Luca Antolini Mix)
Eurotrash - Get Up, Get Down (Yoji Biomehanika Remix)
Gouryella - Ligaya (Yoji Biomehanika Remix)
Start Off slow and build up to a cresendo
amen, all of us, overdrive, above the clouds seem outa place for a hard trance mix.....above the clouds being one of my tracks of the year so far
vengence is a nice slise of hard trance
the mixing needs alot of wrk....sorting out your levels is the first thing....use the EQ and gains for this
You got the right idea...and you had a few trainwrecks near the end.....they were badly slipping outa synch.....and when they start to do this u gota take action early otherwize they slip futuer and further apart and they are much harder to get back....so when they start to slide use the pitch.....or you could give the record a little push or slow it down
thanks alot i'll try your order
There's some great reviews here. Every posted set should have criticism like this. Bravo to all who took the time to help Spunk out!
