i tried to listen, but the quality was so bad so my ears said no

Posted by predictor on Jun-22-2005 10:33:

wtf ?
the quality isnt top notch but it doesnt suck ffs

Posted by Jantjeuh on Jun-22-2005 11:11:

Quality is indeed awful, shame =/

Some ID's:

Faithless - Why Go? @ 60 mins
Greens Keepers feat. Colette - Keep It Down (Radio Slave Dub) @ 65 mins
Coburn vs. Dumb Blonde - Sugar Lips (Kiki Remix) @ 95 mins
Trentemoller - Beta Boy @ 103 mins
Rulers Of The Deep - The Last Survivor (Buick Project Dub Mix) @ 108 mins
Sebastian Ingrosso - Get It Back @ 132 mins
Juliet - Ride The Pain (Thin White Duke Remix) @ 183 mins

There are a lot of other easy ID's but this is hurting my ears :/

what are you guys talking about. quality is fine.

Posted by Choobak on Jun-22-2005 16:59:

These Aria sets are always crowd recordings and quality-wise they are some of the best out there...

crowd recording > mixer recording

plus djs don't want you to record from the mixer because it could easily be ripped and sold... (if the dj accepts he won't play any white labels).

mixer recording > crowd recording

crowd recordings sound like crap. even if its lossless. it's just the nature of the recording. i'd rather have mixer recordings because, well, its easier to listen to at home. and 9 times out of 10 a DJ won't release a cd thats a direct live rip of their show for a number of reasons.

Posted by malek on Jun-27-2005 17:36:

direct recordings are lifeless, they do not represent the vibe of the night.

A live recording done in miami, boston or montreal would all sound the same... boring.

anyways its a matter of taste and i can tell you a majority of people prefer live with crowd recordings.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Jun-27-2005 18:31:

this set is sick...i dont know how you guys are saying its so terrible. I mean its not the best of live recordings ive heard but its right up there. Also, it's great to be able to hear how the crowd is feeling the music! Now lets get that playlist together!!!

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Jun-27-2005 18:36:

done bitches

Posted by malek on Jun-27-2005 18:39:

the set has been taken offline till you remove that link.

Posted by leavingharvard on Jun-27-2005 18:53:

it may be lifeless but it sounds a crapload better. i dont like crowd in my music..which is why i hate dave matthews. all their stuff is just people screaming.; ]

Posted by UWM on Jun-27-2005 19:49:

Hey fuck-ass remove the link so those of us who don't already have it can listen to it.

why not just have a set ripped from the mixer, but a mic to record some crowd noise over top? that way you get the best of both worlds.

To me the crowd recordings have no life. The music seems lifeless, and bland. Sure you get to hear the crowd, which i love, but in the end the music itself just doesn not shine through.

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Jun-29-2005 04:53:

Well Sasha & Digweed @ Renaissance this year had really great sound quality and you could still hear the crowd, but i dont know what they used or what methods they used to record it

Posted by malek on Jun-29-2005 06:57:

well, if i want to plug directly to the mixer, i will get refused 99% of the time. Plus I might piss off the dj royally just for asking.

If I do it without asking, then its an even bigger gamble, he could discover it during the night and get really furious which is a no no. (imagine a shortened set because of that, or a dj not wanting to come back to the club).

To record better in a club environment i would need better microphones and some specialized equipment which would cost more than... the already spent 600$ coming from my own pocket.

If you guys are willing to send some cash or equipments as donations then I will gladly use them the next time...

if not, then stfu and record your own stuff so we can bitch at them later on
