I think too many people on this board have started believing their own hype. I think too many people on this board have stopped having fun with djing and see it as a way to get ahead (or give it, in some cases) in life. Radio show this, Download my mix that, Event thread here. Too many people are here for the free promotion. People such as Anomyst, luke.sykes, bassy_queen, NuEra and d(-j-)b DJB (sorry to any mooches I've left out, your name didn't happen to be on the first page at the time) should really go spam another forum.

Or they could spam the self promotion thread. But then it would probably get lost among all the mixes, and no one would go to their special and unique event.

To people who will argue why soups and joshva aren't in that list, personally I think they do more than just spam events around here and make it a more interesting place.

PS: See you all at elevation on the 23rd of June k? Phatties are necessary.

i can vouch for anomyst actually. he make contributions more than most although sometimes terrible tuesdays got the better of him!

Posted by limitedtimeonly on Jun-22-2005 23:35:

Maybe your right, there is alot of self promotion and not much actual music discussion.

But i ask you this, if all these events being promoted were in Perth instead of sydney and melbourne would you be so shitty at it

Posted by escee on Jun-22-2005 23:51:

Yes I would be. But making comments like that you are insinuating that everyone in Melbourne and Sydney approves of this practice, I don't think that is the case.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Jun-22-2005 23:59:

there are people desperate to prove their cock-headedness in all spheres of life. we should all be used to it by now

I just wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school. I wish that I could bake a cake made out of rainbows and smiles, and we\'d all eat it and be happy.

Posted by 00soups00 on Jun-23-2005 00:08:

damn right i make this place more interesting

however im ecstatic that im in the same category as joshva

edit - these forums are a bit of fun though escee.. is free promotion really such a bad thing??.. off these forums most of us are a prettty tight knit community (where noone really trusts anyone -hahaha-) but its a good way of knowing whts going on..

Posted by escee on Jun-23-2005 00:15:

Too much free promotion is a bad thing. Especially from people who dont contribute anything else.

Just too check your point of veiw are saying that there are too many people who just start threads about their night and promote only themselves and don't take part in any other forums/threads

if so, i agree

Posted by Joshva on Jun-23-2005 00:45:

You make a good point. I will endeavor to contribute more to the other threads . I used to before I started promoting.

I think though we do need a degree of promotion. We need successful local events to grow the scene and without forum promotion it would be a notch more difficult to raise awareness of the events.

Through the events we have been able to give loads of up and commers sets in clubs. I think the events help build DJs profiles both with the sets and also with the advertising and editorial that goes with it.

For starters, What the fu.ck would you know about contributing? Typing some sh.it here and there on a forum doesnt vouch for shi.t!

Contribution go outside of the internet. Try Twotribes and heaps of other Parties and nights where i have busted my balls to get most of you cheap tix, providing informaion about parties i think would be of intrest to you all, wether or not i am playing or others are playing doesnt matter! its just info. Yes i have done some heavy promoting in my time, but all for the right reasons and rarly out of context.

So fuc.k you escee! I have tried my hardest to contribute to the scene, wether it be failing or rising, its up to the people who want to make an effort within to see it succeed, i guess you have missed the point of forums, its not just a heirachy of the jade empire but a community of trance lovers and punters, there are rules and guidelines, but for fu.cks sake there is no law.

So Fuc.k everyone who applaudes this shi.t!

Yes that is what Im saying.

Josh, you arent too bad because when a thread is posted by you about your events sid comes along and saves the day. But with him gone will they be as interesting? Or will they end up like one of the 3 promotion threads that Anomyst has on the first page at the moment?

I am shaking in my boots, all you are is a personality. online that is.

Who are you ouside of the net. Not much i would assume

Posted by ProDiGaL on Jun-23-2005 00:57:

I never click on the promo threads.

Posted by escee on Jun-23-2005 00:58:

Semi rational thought makes you shake in your boots? Maybe your only shot at life is being a dj

Outside of net im a mild mannered computer programmer who sees djing as a hobby and a somewhat fun passtime. I like few drinks here and there and listening to good music.

This thread wasn't directly about YOU PERSONALLY, just the excessive spamming you (and others) have been doing lately. There is no need to feel threatened.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Jun-23-2005 00:59:

id like to extend a massive thankyou to joshua, tathi, jayde & escee for making this week so very enjoyable.

I was threatened and i did take it personally. I have NO need or want to become a world famous DJ, i only do it for fun, and often for free, it is my obsessive hobby and only that. To put me in the same boat as Bassy_Queen is fucken harsh also. if you have problem why make it public, Begic made mention that i had been promoting a bit hard recently and i stopped there and then, no more posts about it.

Lighten up dude, i cause no harm

Posted by Huebor on Jun-23-2005 01:08:

Dear Escee,

Anonymst is cool.
He let me sleep on his couch.

Now shut the fuck up and hug.

PLUR!

Luv Huey.

p.s. LISTEN TO MY RADIO SHOW.
