Mixer help.. information needed.

hey all..

i just bought a mixer to controll the volume of my monitors..

this is the mixer I bough Behringer Eurorack

this is the monitors i use: Alesis M1 Active MK II

I use the mini jack stereo out on my
soundcard converted to big jack through RCA cables.. which I have connected on TAPE IN and TAPE OUT on the mixer..

so my questions are:

1. is this good for optimal performance? should I connect with different cables in a different way?

2. what can I do with the mixer, except controlling the volume and connecting headphones?

im really n00b on this area, any information and suggestions is appreciatable..

Why use the mini jack output (headphones) when you have separate RCA outputs? Those would give a better signal.

Well you could connect some other sound sources. CD-player maybe or a microphone if you throw a party and would like to sing karaoke
