second thoughts about moving to miami

ugh, miami is huge and i come from a really small town and i wasnt to happy about the north mdc campus. i was talking to someone in the TA room on soulseek who lived in west palm beach, said that its alot more calm up there and a little bit nicer and for the price that im paying for my 1/1 apartment (910) in aventua in the moors @ latitudes, that i could have a nice clean apartment in a very nice neighborhood for under 8 , and that i could attend pbcc.

just wondering what your thoughts were on this idea. i just kinda picked miami as a place to live to get away from where i live. im used to having to drive about an hour an a half to new orleans to go out whenever. i just kinda picked miami as a place to live and goto school cause it has a good music scene which is what i like, but im starting to think that its not a reson to live in the city.

im sure moving to miami will force me to come out of my shell, but moving from reno to a really small town in mississippi was a good thing for me cause i didnt like any of the stuff i do now when i lived in reno and i kind of like the simple life.

anyone here live in wpb and have any comments on my situation?

Bro, The MDC North Campus is the most depressing place to go or be. Go to the Wolfson Campus, which is Downtown Miami. Is WAAAAAAAAYY better.... my FIU friends love Wolfson, locationg and the ambient, feel is great there.. very city like. In Aventura, you pretty much have everything within 5-10 mins away.. everything. West Palm I like a lot, but its just different. You'll prolly like it since you come from a very small town. Other then that, besides music, I dont know what else ur looking for.. Aventura is perhaps one of the best locations in South FL.. been in the middle of SoBe/ DOwntown MIA, and FT. Lauderdale, and its walking distance from the beach makes it great in my opinion.

Yea. Is right in Front of Bayside and the AAA... is also close to Space Club and stuff. Theres an 11 story parking garage just for the college students. I like that parking way more then the other campuses parking lots.

i just moved to florida almost 3 months ago. i live in ft lauderdale, and working in miami, i have to say i would absolutely NEVER want to live in miami. when i am not working, i try to stay as far from there as possible. yes, i like Space, and random other places down there, but its not a city i could live in. ft lauderdale is more laid back, the beach is nicer, and there is still plenty to do here, and its close enough to miami that if i really want to go there, its not far to drive.

however i have relatives in palm beach, they absolutely LOVE it. they keep telling me how its so much better than lauderdale... better money, better people, and not as much confusion as there is here. so if you have the chance to move to west palm, i would say move there over miami. i'm sure people that live in miami love it, but from someone who hasnt lived here there whole life, i have to say that miami gets tired really quick. if you really want to enjoy florida without all the chaos of miami, i think west palm would be a good choice.

Wolfson > EVERY OTHER CAMPUS

North is in the HoOd and a waste of a college.

Personally I like BCC South I like best though because it's nice and it beats driving downtown in the mornings. I did it for a long time but if you're going to MDC go to Wolfson.

I think thats the one in Pines/Hollywood Blvd. If so this is close to Aventura also if you plan to live there. Ive heard good things bout it too.

well the thing is i dont have plans really. i mean all the stuff ive done i can get my money back. i just kinda chose a spot and went with ut, after talking to everyone im starting to regret the spot i chose. i can basically live anywhere in south fla really, i just want somewhere outside of teh hood with an apartment 1/1 for like under 900.

i already paid for classes/books/deposit for apartment but i can get all that back. so i guess ill take a look at west palm beach and check out pbcc.

Palm beach is teh dope spot...although i wish i was a lil closer to space, i still manage to make it their at least every other weekend...Miami is a great place to be and maybe to live but i love it here in teh Palm Beaches...ive been living here since i moved to florida with the exception of going to UF in gville for the past 4 years...ami glad to be back home though...

miami is a fun place , but if you like the burb's west palm is the place , there is also Delray , Boynton , lake worth... thay are 45mins away from miami if you want to go there, and also 25 min to fort laud....
There are also some cool small clubs up in west palm ( i.e delux, resort, porter house...)

I just like living in the burb's over the city

yeah thats what ive heard, thing is they dont have my major @ that campus, its only offered @ the lake worth campus. ive heard lake worth isnt that nice though, i was wondering if its possible to drive from this place

http://www.sanmatera.com/amenities.html

to lake worth campus?

theres an apartment there that this guys mom owns, it ran for over 200k and hes moving out to a furnished apt in gainsville, so im pretty sure ill be taking over payments @ the apartment. 900 which is what im paying in miami and i hate the surroundings where my apartment is at.
