Markus Schultz Pres Elevation - Clear Blue (Remix)

http://albanyddr.pxtek.com/prog11.mp3

320kbps

I worked this up in a few hours or so. Not too bad, not too good.

I need a lot of comments as i'm trying to learn a bunch of things on how to make the quality better throughout the song.

hey!

i like what you've done...
nice use of percs...maybe you could add some more...low and mid tombs would sound cool, imo!
it's cool that you've edited the mainlead a bit...
some more bg-fx would give this track more atmosphere...
some pads or smth like this would make the sound fuller...

would be great to hear a full version of your remix!

// Lars

ps: if you want to, you can check out my remix of clear blue, just have a look at my sig!

Thanks for the reply

Me and my buddy decided to start collab on this since I can learn a ton of things from him. It'll be a whole new song too.

But it's not looking too good now so I might just go back over to Clear Blue

I don't know what to do with toms.

Nice Remix, I like it. Pity that there are no vocals and that it's so short...

Review while listening:

- Kick is little "hollow"
- Like the percussion
- The melody has TOO much reverb I think

Sometimes i hear crackles (in your kick i think).
After the break the you cannot hear the kick very well.
Take a look at the mixdown/mastering. It's not so "clear blue"

That lead reminds me something!
Did you use the Vstation patch I posted in the production forum ?

Posted by Elevation on Jul-03-2005 16:05:

hate to say but i think you need to listen to the original one more time to tweak the melody because it isnt right

Posted by everyMan on Jul-03-2005 16:51:

It's a remix.

Posted by Elevation on Jul-03-2005 19:52:

i know but to at least have the correct melody in ther eat some point...and then vary it....would be good.....only a suggestion

I'm sorry but I have to agree with Elevation. The melody is a bit strange in this remix. Only some tones is right!

The arrangement is cool. Cool effects!
Why don't make a new song of it? With your own melodies.

Keep it up

/Moolow

Yeah, theres some crackling in the kick for sure. Could just LPF it maybe or notch it where the crackles are.

Theres a LOT of reverb on some of the elements and they are just sitting way back in the mix.

Nice tubular sound at 2.00. Dont know the original, so cant tell if it suits it or not. Again, it sounds very reverbed. Your loosing a lot of sparkle due to this.

A lot of the elements in this track sound too filtered. Like the clap for instance. Try a band pass on some of these elements instead of a low pass.

So are you Allen or are you Bream? =)

I'm done working on this track. It was getting worse as I tried doing things and adding more and I would have to start over to fix it.

I've began a remix of Oceanlab - Clear Blue Water

It is much better quality and i've learned some things about compression now.

I think it's the same? Maybe a octave higher or a different sound that's confusing you. I just listened to clear blue and this and they sound exactly the same lead

Posted by Elevation on Jul-04-2005 23:58:

no worries.......ill give you the MIDI for the lead

I don't need it

I'm done with working on that song.

it sorta sounds ok, it's a nice take but it needs to sound fuller really.
