Prodigy ?

Of course you know. Just turn on your radio.

First you need-

http://www.juno.co.uk/ for samples

And then you need to do a search for each of-

Hyper
Breakfastaz
Adam Freeland
Freestylers

And you could well be converted

Well, there's breakbeats as in the breaks that Adam Freeland, Plump DJs, Hybrid, etc. play; there's the breakbeats that spawned hip-hop, heavily electro influenced, and created by dj culture; and there's breakbeats like Prodigy and the like that are best suited for action movies.

Breakbeat Hardcore Techno Acid all the way. (All in one production, to wit.)

Luke chable is nice, Habersham, zabiela likes breaks, check out rennie pilgrem, lee coombs, jds, uberzone... the list goes on. check out the artists who do remixes of their tunes, and you could well find yourself loads of stuff to listen to

Posted by Absolut_Vodka on Jun-24-2005 07:01:

I'd recommend you progressive breakbeats, like
Luke Chable
Lo-Step
Phil K
Habersham
Derek Howell

UNKLE & DJ Shadow are excellent. I would also recommend Luke Chable and Phil K.

+1

Start from those artists, they're very good.
If I were you, start from old-school and go towards the present.

Check this out:

Freestyle - Don't Stop The Rock
Freestylers - Drop The Boom (Adam Freeland Remix)

you want real breaks

get JDS - Adventures of the Purple Funky Monkey on TCR...its gold!

ummmm also

Hybrid's Wider Angle
Freeland's Coastal Breaks and Techtonic
Tayo's stuff is just nasty

BLIM's lost in music album is very nice indeed

Freq Nasty!

You can't go wrong with the brilliant duo, Digital Witchcraft. I also like momu and dislodged

listen to Icey's

Essential Mix

There's a lot of just classic breaks on that mix, mainly, my all favorite cheesy break track Kaycee - Escape.

Hmm this mix also sounds DnB-ish. as well. Basically... get this mix.

GREAT CD. Get it.

EDIT: in fact, holy shit im listening to this cd again right now... **playing: Crustation - Purple (Freestylers Remix) [01:26 | 04:17] / 160 Kbps**

Fabriclive series!

get your hands on any of the fabriclive cd's

Personally i would reccomend artists such as

Freeland
Plump DJs
Evil 9

while hes not all breaks, i think Zabiela is at his best with breaks.

Posted by jrmacca on Jun-24-2005 21:57:

Trafik - Your Light (Luke Chable Vocal)
Hybrid - If I Survive, True To Form (feat Peter Hook)
Beber and Tamra - Travelling On, You Wonder (Starecase Mix)
Chakra - I Am (Kasey Taylor's Oceanbreaks Mix)
Scott Hardkiss and God Within - Raincry (Submerged)
any Way Out West

are amongst my favourites

DJ Icey is the godfather of breaks. Everything your hear now breaks wise is or has evolved from his style. We now have all the various styles that sound so phat and go with just about anything.
My fav Icey cd is called "Mixed". His cds and his productions do not do his live sets justice. He is 10 times better live.

Baby Anne has muched improved over the years check her out too.

Another up and comming DJ/producer to watch out for is UrbanJ from Miami. All the breaks dj's accross the US and UK are spinning his stuff. check out www.urbanj.com
