Undercover at the clubs... busting dealers all over the place.

I was talking to a friend of mine who works in law enforcement the other day and he was telling me about this crazy new program that is taking hold in several major cities across the United States. In a nutshell, highly organized groups of undercover police officers are infiltrating some of the larger club events in cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Miami to catch drug dealers in the act.

At first, I thought it was a bunch of crap... and then he showed me a copy of a report he received from a six-man team that was present for the seventh (and final) Freak Night this past Halloween in Seattle. I was at that show. Several thousand people... hundreds of which were obviously out of their minds on various substances. I saw a few direct deals taking place in the crowd but didn't pay much attention to them. I'm not into drugs... I think it's a disgusting habit.

Anyway, to make a long story short the report stated that eleven arrests were made that night in connection to drugs being dealt at the show. I never once saw a cop make a move on anyone, though, and I don't think there was even an article in the paper about Freak Night in general. It amazes me that such a small team of officers could be so effective in bringing down eleven different people in the span of eight hours.

So, I guess just a word of caution if you happen to dabble in dealing at dance events. The police are starting to take an interest...

Agreed.

Honstly, I wish it was one of those things we could de-invent / get rid of on a global scale. I have lost numbers of good mates due to drugs (they start to hang around the wrong people, destroys their bank accounts and other things). It's terrible to see that people can't deal with their emotions or the fact that they need to have some sort of drug to have a good time, they are already hearing a gigantic set what else do you need. It's so disguistion and unheathly, saved a mates life once getting him off weed. Anyways, enough of my rank.

I'm glad this is being done.

A friend of mine, a DJ lost his job because the owner of the night club was involved in drugs, now he has a tough financial situation thanks to the "geniuses" dealing drugs. The only drug you need is the music itself. But if you do need a little mood adjuster, there is a simple solution for that: Don't use drugs - have a drink, get on the dance floor, dance your ass off, meet a girl/boy and have a blast while enjoying what the DJ is spinning for you. My "poison" of choice is single malt scotch combined with a company of a wonderful woman.

P.S. I lost a couple of people to drugs too, four of them committed suicide while on drugs, they were all in high school, way too young to die.

You know, I honestly wasn't sure how people would react to this thread. I applaud you guys for not being the stereotypical drug-addicted EDM fans. Makes me feel good.

tsss we are used to this in Sweden since years and years

It's not like all drugs are so OMGHORRIBLE you make them seem. The ironic thing is people drink alcohol, which is more or less just as damaging.

Anyway. Yeah, I agree on trance being all you need.

Jesus wept, how fucking naive can one person be?

Posted by UWM on Jun-30-2005 14:46:

Yep just because a person chooses to indulge themselves in narcotics once in a while, it makes them a 'drug-addicted EDM fan.'

What a loser.

please. weed. do me a favor and if anyone in here is going to drink alcohol and then talk about the dangers of pot, keep your mouth shut.

for every 1 person who cant handle a little weed, there are 50 who's lives are ruined by alcohol.

drugs arent dangerous. the people who use them can be. no matter what the drug of choice is (alcohol, weed, e) if you cant handle it, you cant handle it.

weed...LOL

actually, i disagree. you started a thread about cops busting drugs in clubs and it turned into a thread about the dangers of drugs. you've been hijacked, and this is typical for a thread like this.

my condolences to the people who have lost thier good mates to drugs

i was brought on the set into beliving that trance could only be enjoyed with use of MDMA or Cocaine or other mind bending subtances...

i had a phase of doing this but i realised its wrong VERY wrong it bring s on bad reputation to nightclubs and the genre

ive lost count of the times ive sed that im really into trance and people acuse me of being a pill head etc etc not even knowing what ive taken or done in the past..

i love trance with all my heart and now realised that its trance that keeps me going and i dont need hard drugs to enjoy ma self.

i just enjoy the natural buzz of the Dj, the music and the atmosphere without the need of drugs

E and EDM are the most beautiful combo ever.

Posted by DjConfessions on Jun-30-2005 17:07:

the problem with the scene right now is that anyone who listens to electronic music is automatically assumed to be a pill popper. it offends me when i show my musical taste and people coincide that with "so, what drugs do you take?" it's offensive.
Any form of drug enforcement is good in my book. weeds out the EDM listeners from druggies.

Very well said CosmoKid. I couldn't have said it any better myself.

Oh, really?

will destroy what small EDM scene you have.

people who enjoy trance without substances are in the minority and there are certainly not enough too fill a club.

In the UK several years ago a girl called Leah Betts died on her 18th birthday from taking ecstaasy. E got such bad press, and still does because of that it has certainly contributed to the implosion of the EDM scene in the UK. And i think that is a shame as if you are sensible E is not that dangerous a drug.

All things in moderation
