Mixer Channels

ii was looking to buy a mixer these holidays....

I wanted something with 4 stereo channels..
If something is advertised with 5 for example,

does it mean that they are all stereo, and one mono... or what????

I mean, when there is a certain number of channels advertised about a mixer, how do i know how many "stereo" channels the mixer actually has>???

i dont think they would ever have a mono channels except for a mic channel.

if they say 4 channel mixer, i think they mean 4 stereo channels.

stereo is pretty much the norm...thats what you have and red and a white rca cable, so you can have stereo sound. When. if ever did you see a mixer without 2 rca outs for every channel?

do u think it's possible to attach 2 turntables and a laptop with 2 channels of output to this mixer???

I think maybe you should have a read of other sources before you ask any more questions here.

Seriously, and I don't mean that in a bad way, but maybe you should read as much as you can, cos these are simple questions that you have to understand without us feeding you answers.
You have to understand this stuff yourself, you won't understand by us just telling you each time.

almost all of the reviews I read.... and i've read about 50+ were good, for it's price...

but as Abhay said, its good for the price. And you all keep telling the noobs, to do the research on there own so they can find the answers for themselves.

I personally own the mixer, and haven't found the much wrong with it for the price. I have even palyed a few large house parties with it, and found it to preform just fine.

In my history here, I've seen most members more quick to tell people how some equipment is crap rather then help. Or yell at that member to search, rather then providing assistant. I know most memebers here don't read stickies, and didn't when they first got here(though some may claim they did). Remember we were all new to the scene once too. I just wish members weren't so quick to yell about searching, as the serch function here can be very time consuming to find what you're looking for, and usally dosen't produce the results you were hoping to find. So, if I may, if you see a noob post, and feel the urge to knock it, why not just ingnor it rather then kepping that topic active for other top drop in and complain about noobs being so lazy and not doing there research.

YES, providing you have the cables for your computer. That cable being, a quater inch stero plug that would plug into your PC, and then would split into 2 rca plugs(red and white).

The best place to find those plugs/adapters, whould be radio shack.

Do you really have 2 out puts on your labtop? I'm just asking as I didn't know they did that for labtops(sorry computer audio is my weak point in the pc world)

about behringer, I don't own it, but I wouldn't want to either. It may work for some, it hasn't worked for some. With low-end equip. you're actually gambling w/ your $. It may last, it may not. And think about, why that one???
Well if you want 2 TT and a laptop w/ 2 outputs (which I'm also wondering how....do you have an external audio card?) you don't have to have 4 channels. Most mixers have assignable channels, for example
a two channel mixer could have 1 line in & 1 phono input per channel, so unless you wanna use all 4 sources at the same time, this would work.
Also, with the pc you could already have whatever effects you want on, at least, whats comming from it.

Another good advice is the "baby steps". IF you are gonna start mixing, don't try all at once. Get Good at something (beatmaching, etc) and upgrade slowly as you get better and manage to save the dough. That way you learn to get the most out of everything and you could probably afford better stuff.

Thats true. The DJX 700 is a great mixer for $150.

4 channels and ok EQ...what else could you need to mix? Quality sound. The crossfader is smooth and you can cut alright with it. The upfaders could be a bit smoother, but they're ok. The EFX are something to stay away from though. Mines been working for the past year now. Not one problem.

I mix on this and it sounds fine.

If you say this mixer is crap, you obviously havn't used it, or used it to it's full potential.

well i use the DJX-700 at home...
but i say its shit to anyone who even thinks for a second to buy one...
but then again i use a A&H V6 well i spinn at the Cafe...

but ill get back to you, with i nice low end mixing with multi outs for you

The PHONO inputs can be switched to LINE inputs for use with line-level signals by setting the switch below the PHONO RCA jacks.

Yeah, I've played around on systems before... I've done reading up, i know i can beatmatch etc. (i can't hold Beatmatch for long without a beatcounter lol)... Better yet, y not piss all of the old DJs off and just use a compuer program to beatlock for you? lol (covers himself with arms in preparation for being bashed)..

as a DJ, If i dont' see too much of mixing more than one track at a time happening.... does that mean i could settle for a higher-end mixer (better brand), but with less channels... or just a mixer with less channels....???? I couuld just change what i'm mixing via switching between phono and line-in right? (eg, stop using the laptop, and switch to vinyls, by hitting the phono/line-in switch, adn then intermixing....)

besides... both inputs are RCA (YAYyy, i learnt what RCA is!!!)inputs.... wat's the difference between a phono input and a line-in input and a CD input...?

Phono input is for plugging turntables into.

RCA/line/CD/aux (same thing) input is for plugging CD players into, it's a standard used by most electronic equipment for transmitting sound, like you'd find them on your TV/hi-fi/whatever.


I'd consider getting a 3-4 channel mixer if you think you might be using more than one format (e.g. using both CD's and vinyl) it would make things simpler.
