Would this be an acceptable mix?

I want to put an ambient track at the beginning of my set. The track that i want to mix in is a trance track so do you think it will sound ok if i let the amibient track naturally fade out when the song ends (its only a minute long)and then let my trance track start as it fades out (it starts with pads)

I tried it..and it sounds ok to me since the ambient track is really dark and it kind of absorbs well with silence aat the end and the trance track seems like a good change of pace.

Post a clip of your mix, I'm curious to see how it turned out!

Me too, post it sometimes.

Btw DJ's (esspecially hardstyle dj's) do it all the time.

Just give it a try, you never know till you try it, I've done mixes with ambient style tracks, and some that the end is very ambient, and they turned out good.

no.

j/k......yep, i've done this a few times. i've always still had to beatmatch since most of my ambient tracks still have some sort of rhythm.

yeah, if it's only a minute long, that's perfect.....i'd avoid the 5 minute ambient intros unless that's what you're going for

i think the effect works well, you could try fading the ambient tune into a trance track with a beatless intro eg Moonshine, Cristalle, sweetest dreams etc....then you create a lot of interesting sounds right at the beginning of ur mix

Do an ambient mix . Pulling it of will leave you smiling and happy and also you will find yourself wondering if you are spending way to much time on your decks..
if you bring a song after an ambient mix of a trace track for example the trillseekers - synaestesia (ambient mix)
make sure you get the the timing right.
dont throw trance after a downtempo at 100 bpm it doesn't go.
if its only one minite long try to beatmach it and bring it in the mix 2 bars before the song ends and crossfade
good luck :-)
