Bring Back The Dirtyness!
Am I the only one that is sick of this german minimal influenced SHIT! coming out of the music scene today.
Locodice - the creator of Phatt Dope Shit released a mix album out in August, I heard the promo of weak watered down house and electro with NO fucking dirtyness
Clive Henry - the dark and dirty man did the same as Locodice
John Digweed went tech house but he rather play the minimal shit, none of this dirtyass tech that should be played.
the list goes on
PLEASE PEOPLE, BRING BACK THE DIRTYASS SHIT!, I guess its till someone wakes the fuck up again or GU LIGHTS OUT 3

I'll be the first one to agree then. Sure, there is some quality minimal stuff out there (Gabriel Ananda, anyone?) but every other f**ker with a mixer is jumping on the bandwagon. It's getting tedious. Even more so since it causes an enormous increase in releases, and most of the time, that does not do any good to the quality.

Steve Lawler vs King Unique ft. Rowetta - Souls on Ice
How does this do it for you Pickles?
I'm inclined to agree with TTA on this one.
you know...i don't really like any of the minimal genres that much. like i really didn't like the stint that sasha and digweed went through in 2001-2002 with the pretty minimal prog stuff...i just like my music more driving and banging...

that guys is fuckin DIRTY
Dirty nothing. You don't even know what "dirty" means. You just use it to describe some intangible nothing you hear when...well whatever the fuck you hear.

amen.
I love the "dirty" sound that makes you feel sweaty and filthy.
Makes you want to walk up to some random hoe, back hand her, and give her the good ol'. After, you tell her to get you some god damn juice. Er...dunno if that's just me.
Anyways, like someone said - old Lawler or Moshic stuff gets the job done.

Minimal for me, sorry. These last couple bandwagons have brought some excellent music IMO, i guess it'll eventually reach the overloaded point like progressive did, but so far i've been loving it.
Lawler isn't bad tho.

what does it mean for a tack to be 'dirty' 'filthy' and such?
what about the song makes is dirty? I guess I never understood that one, how a sound can be dirty.
I remember a few songs that I guess people commonly refer to as dirty music though
dirty - dirty
PQM - you are sleeping
what makes these songs dirty? I guess the general mood of that style encourages people to act naughty, but I still cant find quite the right things to pay attention for in order to detect a tracks 'dirtyness'. Overall they seem to be very bass heavy. The gimmick seems to revolve around appealing to naughty behavior, avoiding high pitched synthplay as much as possible. But yeah, I guess it is distorted base and emphasis on the percussion rather than the synthplay, please somebody explain this to be better because I am just guessing.
This style seems to focus the attention of the parts of the songs that I usually take for granted. The pieces I would generaly ignore, like the subtle bass runblings and the way the secondary percs are laid out. I guess thats why I never followed it too much, because it seemed to revolve around the parts of music that I generally ignored.
The raunchy gimmick just doesnt do it for me I guess, maybe it is because I never get a chance to get drunk while I'm partying because I always have to drive 3+ hours to get to the place. I imagine this kind of music would be much more enjoyable in a drunk setting.

Yeah I love dark and dirty and banging sound. I hope it comes back.
hmmm, that cattaneo dude is supposed to be in my neighborhood this thrursday ...
it does seem like something that is hard to find the right words to describe
whenever I see people play that kind of stuff around here, I never see anybody dancing. So I can't quite understand how a thing so subtle is more danceable, having not seen much besides kids flailing wildly to DnB or standing around nodding their heads to whatever else kids are playing.
Are there any video files floating around of people dancing to this stuff? I am a bit curious what a floor full of fans of this kind of music looks like, because I have heard the talk about it being deancable before but just never had a chance to see it. I dont think I will see it this upcoming thursday, because oakey is playing at that same party so I doubt the crowd will be in the mood for dirtyness, prolly just pack the place just because they recognize oakeys name, sigh.
Oh, there goes Radagast again
, tho this is your last warning, stop the crap or you go bye bye and all of your new accounts join it
anyway
Dirty Tech House, with that filthy edge to it, none of this minimalism crap. Dirty Tribal House, the kind that Steve Lawler used to play more of, that just made the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
