My first portrait

An emotive portrait taken at Toronto's Ontario Place in June 2005. This is one of my first attempts at artistic photography.

"I LOST HIM"

Have you done more than this one?

Looks more like she's waiting for her head to be chopped off at the guillotine. And are her lips touching the railing... eww. You should have asked her to take the earings off. I like B&W shots.

looks like she is going to fall off the boat. but nice pic.

it's nice.. big fan of B&W photography

it would also work well as a cover of a hairstyle magazine

Posted by Jem_hadar on Jul-07-2005 16:37:

i liked it -- thought it lookd cool.

nice photo man.

~Jem~

ps. I like the earings in the pic -- they grabbed my attention.

Posted by Nikitha on Jul-07-2005 17:00:

Its a really nice picture... maybe next time you should just open up the frame a bit and that way ppl will see a little more them just her hair.. if it was a wider shot and you could see her body position it would probably give off more about her emotions in the picture.. the black and white was a really good choice
keep it up..it looks like a really good start

it seems like anyone with a half decent camera is considered a photographer,
just like it is with all the leaked software of photoshop and illustrator, except that makes them a designer.

not to discourage you from your new found "artistic" ability but all I see is hair in this shot. someone even mentioned her earings look like sperm, when the photo is that uninteresting, people will notice all the wrong things about it. i think you would have been better off labeling this as an everyday photo rather than changing the output to B&W and all the sudden becoming a portrait of some kind.

That's exactly why the earrings shouldn't be there. I highly doubt d!abolic wanted that to be the focal point. Pick your backgrounds wisely... there seems to be too much going on. This is even more apparent in B&W photos because there isn't enough color for your eyes to distinguish. As Nikitha said, the subject is too close. Zooming out would have made a big difference. Good first attempt though.

I'll buy it for 100,000 bucks
