Angry Ohhh No No No, I Don't Respect That

What the hell is wrong with today's live shows/ raves ? one word ....computers....Just because a Dj or Producer has become famous in the scene of trance the liveshows they do consist of nothing but laptops and cd mixers etc. I dont respect this anymore there trying too hard to make everything mix perfectly and getting rid of the skill involved...my respect and props tonight goes out to the local Dj's that spin vinyls live at their hometown scenes ......

Posted by J.L. on Jul-07-2005 02:21:

why care what medium a DJ uses?

as long as the music is good and the party is fun, i couldn't care less

i kind of agree with u on the laptop part but most djs use vinyl and cds. I see lots of artists use cds and vinyls. The skill factor is still there.

Posted by WojiePoj on Jul-07-2005 02:26:

Exclamation hmmm

True, good point added but not considered by myself...think about it...i know that the music will sound amazingly great but the could play a loop playlist off their PC's and leave the stage go have a couple of drinks or even a power nap and return in an hour... soon itll be like that...im just sayin im sick of seeing djs click through that garbage instead of turning around using their head and trying to find a vinyl behind them ....

Posted by Zombie0729 on Jul-07-2005 02:31:

like this hasn't been beaten to death 3000 times. there is far more creative advantage with software... bottomline.

and i guess here comes a logical step you might of missed.

good artists want to be creative as possible.

thread is closed

Behold, my arse.

k....1) Your Gay 2) Thread Is still open cuz thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard wanna be creative...shut off thats a lame excuse for djs who are afraid to fuck up....and 3)if your gunna make a comment like that change your display pics of the stick man on the Ones-and-Twos cuz that doesnt help your statement...idiot get off this thread

lol. I agree with you to a point, but times are changing and technology is taking over the decks. Although, I would definately rather have Sasha owning people with Ableton than standing there with 2 vinyls.

Posted by WojiePoj on Jul-07-2005 02:46:

Drunk Yeah?

Brizzo my friend thats a bold statement lol but i guess your right in terms of djs that cant spin ...i mean didnt we hear enough stories about Sasha LOL LMAO! ahhhhhhhh hes thanking God for Ableton

Posted by Aquarian on Jul-07-2005 02:52:

Great, another elitist who's afraid of technology. Operating a stupid turntable doesn't give you a special talent. It just means you can operate an f-ing turntable. If that's all DJing is about to you, then there's no skill involved EITHER WAY. But no - it's about alot more than that. They could mix with pineapples for all I care.

Posted by WojiePoj on Jul-07-2005 02:57:

Shame / Disagreement

Wow, that... wow that was very touching yes....hmmm did your parents hit you when you were a wee lad ...no? well tell them to now for me...pineapples? dumb dumb a simple i disagree with you would have worked there Aquaman

Posted by Spacey Orange on Jul-07-2005 03:27:

if someone doesn't use vinyls, they're not a Disc Jockey. i'm not sure what to call someone that exclusively uses a laptop and CDs. CDJ? FJ (File Jockey)? there is a difference in the entire spectacle and the sound.

that's not to say that the experience is bad tho. but i wouldn't shell out cash again to go to a show to have some guy mix on a laptop. i recently saw G&D do this and it fucken blew.

:/

When you read a document, does it matter to you if it was prepared on a word-processor or a type-writer?

I'd agree in the case of a laptop, but a CD is still a disk. Besides, the term has taken a more vague meaning. It would be pointless to make up a new term for every piece of equipment that can be used to play music.

How about pineapple jockeys?

Posted by Kapedano on Jul-07-2005 04:39:

am i the only one that doesnt like sasha? he seems so boring, i cant imagen myslef havin a good time at a club while his playin, maybe if im at a fuckin funeral yes, he can come and spin for us. people braggin about sasha and his music, its all shit to me, music for fuckin funerals.

Posted by flavdave on Jul-07-2005 04:39:

People shouted "Judas!" at Bob Dylan when he first played an electric guitar. Things seemed to work out fine for him. The times they are a changing, go with the flow my friends.

I'd have fun at a party where there was a laptop being used.

However, as a new DJ to the scene myself, I would rather use vinyls and cd decks than use a boring laptop. Someone spinning vinyl just looks better too.

These programs, however, do allow for a little bit more creativity.

mixing i dont give a fuck about at a party.
i mean i dont expect it at a party.
a party meaning drinking/socializing in a crowd thats not at an establishment.
at a club, however, my earballs are open for changups.
that and MY FUCKING BEER.

if u think about what u said for 2 seconds ull not get what ur saying. Turntables made the Djs. When u tell people u dj they ask u what kind of decks u have not what software u have or pineapple in ur case. When i go clubbing i see vinyls and cds im not much of the whole laptop thing but im not bashing it at all. I know BT is great at what he does. Some djs out there have uses vinyls for a very long time and are trying to try other things out. but u bashing on turntables ur a complete idot. nuff said
