Orkidea - Requiem [Tokyo]

I just checked this out on Release's featured weekly releases. The A-side, Xpanding Girl, is just another run-of-the-mill Xpander boot.

I suggest everyone check out Requiem, the B-side of this release. If anyone has suggested that trance music is dead, dying, or cheesy, this will change your mind. I hardly listen to trance anymore but I remember seeing this track brought up a while ago so out of curiousity I listened and it blew me away. This is what music should be. It's so emotional and uplifting. I haven't heard a trance production even close to this in years.

Thoughts?

I agree on Requiem, it's much better than 'Sasha vs. Underworld - Xpanding Girl (Orkidea Remix)' on the flip but that isn't too bad either IMO, much better than most remixes i've heard. But Requiem is a very nice trancer and been played around here for ages.

This is the 1st one of the 2 Orkidea booty vinyls.. the other one has 'Opus III - It's A Fine Day (Orkidea Remix)' and 'Vangelis - Procession (Juha Vilkamo & Orkidea Remix)'.

Ah no worries, I'll listen to it when I get home. We are only allowed to have Windows Media Player installed in work.

Grim, are you a top notch dj or have some sort of connection? Or is it the Finish connection?

LOL in my personal view.. it's mainly the latter two, especially the last one and least the first one.. i guess i've learned to know some random people along the way over the past 13 or so years when i've been spinning the round thingies (excluding the 6 more years in the childhood when i was just fooling around with them).

awhile back, around november of last year, i heard scott bond play a song here in london...it had the theme from requiem for a dream. i looked on his top ten....and found out that the song i heard was called orkidea - requiem. it was also the last song in an orkidea set featured on TA.

i just took a listen to this....and it's NOT the song i heard before. anyone have any clue what is going on? is orkidea yanking our chain by releasing something else under the name orkidea - requiem?

Odd is that. I was at Boa for that show... Perhaps there were licensing issues and Topio changed it up a bit, but kept things in a similar vein?

Both are nice tracks, definitely. I love his work and he is a very genuine guy.

To me the track on that clip sounds like the remix of Vangelis - Procession I don't have the vinyl yet so I don't know which track actually is on it.

Maybe there's been a some kind of a mixup while pressing the vinyl and the real Requiem will be on the second vinyl.

Printing track titles on record went wrong.

It should go like this

Tokyo001:
Sasha vs Underworld: Xpanding Girl (Orkidea remix)
Vangelis: Procession (Juha Vilkamo vs Orkidea remix)

and second release like this.

Tokyo 002:
Opus III: Fine Day (Orkidea remix)
Orkidea: Requiem
