i can belch for you if you want.

seriously tho, no clue what's happening locally. most of the regular nights are done for. you can always tune to vlado and his yak on 90.1 from 10pm on 90.1 fm.

Club 23

Naz and i are heading down to club 23 this friday nite , there you can expect a nice mix of psy and goa trance in a very laid back atmosphere . 23 w cordova just around the corner from the blarney stone .

i know you asked about friday but maybe you can find some time to check out red room on a saturday night for some good house. i had lots of fun on my first trip there. red room is located on richards/cordova or richards/hastings in downtown.

i obviously stand corrected on the scene in this city. i just need to get out more, apparently.

It's nothing 'new', but if you're up for prog, there's always Focus on Fridays @ the Lotus.

Shiu is on the decks tonight, right before he embarks on a 7 week tour of Asia. The other residents there are pretty good too <-- you can checkout their sets on Frisky Radio.

From ProgEnt site:

"Kevin's career has recently started to spark on a global scale - both John Digweed and Tiesto have recently been quoted mentioning Kevin as one of their favorite DJ's, and in the last few years Kevin has played alongside almost every major DJ in the world. As a member of the Balance Record Pool, Kevin has been singled out as a trend and style leader in the worldwide dance music community."

Request GL thru CZ and save that $12 for 2 drinks instead

ps -- are the Corn Barns out in full force yet?

I dont know my plans for sat. but I havent heard good house music for a long time.

Looks like its a toss up between lotus or club 23

Yep! It's the only regular/weekly prog nite in the city that I know of.

Chloe Harris (one of the many guests @ Digweed's bday bash last year) is a quarterly resident there. She tore the place up with her blend of prog and breaks back in April. She'll be returning on Jul 22nd (but we all know that night belongs to BT and A&B ).

John Morgan is also a res there. He's one half of Powerplant (of "Blame" fame). The Chable mix of Blame has been in my playlist for some time now .. ace stuff!

Do both!

Get thee to Club 23 BEFORE 10:30pm to get in for FREE and get your hand stamped. Have a drink and then walk 3 blocks over to the Lotus. Pay your cover and get your other hand stamped. Now you can switch between the two venues.

Check out Organix's website here:
http://www.organixproductions.com/
They are doing two rooms tonight.

Check out Focus' website here:

Mark, we'll do it up sometime my man

Posted by apri_peel on Jul-09-2005 09:58:

i went down to sonar tonight
they had house downstairs and weird hiphop/electro/funk/old school stuff upstairs. the main room was pretty decent but the upstairs dj was weak, didnt really mix, just mostly fade out and fade in

so yeah, friday nights at sonar have house

Posted by SeismicUpgrade on Jul-09-2005 16:30:

^ Cool, thanks for the report! Will add that to the ever shrinking and growing list of house that the city has to offer

As per usual, the Lotus was rockin last nite. Shiu encore'd with a sweet version of When the Doves Cry.

Thumbs up

I was out at Caprice last night and was quite shocked at what i heard and saw. for the most part they were playing some trance, house beats with the odd r&b song. wqas very full and I danced it up. best part of the night was when they turned on the laser which i believe was just brought in for the first night. from toronto the tech guys were saying. top it off free water upstairs which went nice with the redbull so caprice is starting to play edm too.

Posted by apri_peel on Jul-16-2005 19:38:

lol playing trance, house, breaks with rnb? thats just wrong

the r&b was grouped together not all mixed all over the place. but edm is still better than no edm at all being played
