Baseball, Softball removed from the 2012 Olympics

the committee has dropped baseball and softball as events in the 2012 summer olympics ..
they are thinking of replacing them with golf, rugby, squash, karate, or roller sports ...
all i have to say is 
..
they have just removed the second most popular sport (behind futbol of course) ..
i can't comment ..
put in foosball and minature golf to replace baseball and softball

I guess this is an admission by the rest of the world that they're tired of trying to compete with the US women's softball team for gold.
Lets be real here folks no one watches Baseball in the Olympics. Come on now. Softball sucks too the US are like the only team that wins.
Also why isnt Golf in the Olympics? It seems to me that would be a perfect sport for it because all of the different nations golfers. Oh my god that would be so good.

i agree too.. rugby and golf should be included ..
but it's pretty strange how baseball is the second most popular sport in the world, yet no one wants to watch it during the olympics ..

if that's the case, then how would the world baseball cup do when all the countries compete against each other ?
they removed this gay baseball thing and also refused the 6 or 7 other sports that wanted to join (karate 7 players rugby golf rollerblades and some other shit)

3. Hockey(Ice & Roller which I dont like but Europeans love)

Also Auto Racing is a sport right, so that means F1 would be 4 and baseball 5.

ping pong is not interesting. They might as well allow billiards and darts if they play that.
Baseball is one of the most popular TEAM sports in the world, with intense following in North America, Central and South America, Japan and other asian nations. Please tell me how that isn't good enough to be in the Olympics.
I sense a bit of a European bias in you, actually.
Wow i'm glad there is actually a decent argument about this subject here in the Sports Forum rather than the Chill Out room. I was going to post something in that thread, but there was too much hostility and baseball bashing, i just kept my mouth shut.
It's kind of sad that the Olympic Committee is dropping the sports, but then again i can't say i ever watched Olympic Baseball to be honest. And so now that they're going to be getting rid of it, I'm not really upset.
The summer olympics come around once every 4 years. That's too long for me to really care much about it or get reasonably competitive for it.

A lot of owners aren't keen on the WC of Baseball thing...especially Steinbrenner (but he seems senile lately). Baseball would never shut down for a week or two to send the players to the Olympics...it's actually amazing the NHL can do so when you think about it.
But I guess if nobody is watching baseball in the Olympics, then might as well get rid of it. It just makes me chuckle a little when I see shit like beach volleyball, ping pong and that sport where the gymnast dances around with those flapping paper wand things included...but baseball is kicked out.
