Deep Dish vs. Solid Globe - Hello Sahara (J.L. mashup) [Version 2.0]

Not what I usually do, but the first time I heard Deep Dish - Say Hello, it immediately reminded me of Solid Globe - Sahara, so I started mixing the 2 together and it sounded surprisingly well.

So, here's my little attempt at a mashup putting these 2 solid tracks together... Enjoy!

Deep Dish vs. Solid Globe - Hello Sahara (J.L. mashup)

*edit* Note I completely reworked it from the original so hopefully it is sounding a bit better... Also I added a bit of my own percussion to it and a few fx here and there to help carry the track somewhat a bit better

I really liked this. There was a couple of times where the vocals from Say Hello seemed to clash a bit with the Sahara melody, though, about 3:30 in particuler, but overall, it was very well done.

i like your idea. both tracks work well together, except for the percussion. it doesn't seem to flow that well, probably because of the difference in tempo.

some parts sound rather muddy and lofi as well, dunno why that is.

overall, i liked this a lot.

sounds nice, the tone's from both tracks really match. You should try to EQ the vocal a bit, indeed at 3:30 it doesnt sound that good. The overall of the tune though is great. The idea is really cool, you should do a bootleg, try ripping the vocals or something. I think the IDEA could really be released, so keep up those idea's.....

One of the best mashups I've heard, be it amateur or not. Admittedly, it's a little fuzzy sounding, and the vocals don't match Sahara perfectly. Also, the breakdown of Sahara should be a little more poignant at the 4 minute mark I think. But these two tracks mesh so well together. Nice work on this, with a little remastering and tweaking it'd be even better!

I don't know. The beginning doesn't sound all too good IU think. Sound a little out of sync to me. After 2:00 it gets better though, with the vocals coming in and all, then the break. Yeah, definitly, it's good. The vocals doesn't really match the melody, and if it did it would be a hell of a coincidence too.

Well. A good mash-up, not superduper-great but it works.

this was a nice idea of a mashup!

- nice buildup with the lyrics and Sahara background
- those transitions between the different songs are pretty nice, the changes seemed very smooth
- never really liked Hello that much, but this tune was pretty nice

It's out of sync.

thanks for all the feedback guys.. I will work on it some more and fix out the little kinks and all the things that doesn't seem to be working too well... I will try to work out the tempo thing because i know some parts weren't perfectly in sync because mainly on my part because the timestretching wasn't totally spot on in some parts for example as several of you have mentioned, 3:30 was sounding a bit off I guess musically and technically and I'll try to work it out so you have something more pleasing to listen to =)

Also, I'll try to do my best with the quality here, but I can only do so much with 192 kbs mp3 quality and having to timestretch, EQ, and do all that processing really kills some of the quality... maybe i can add a bit of my own percussion to it to give it a bit more of some support.

Thank you, Audigy7, TOR, sevenseas, Demoted, Putboy, eulerfx, and Tim_G

i think i'm going to have another go at this sometime soon and do a new version with all the things you guy said in mind... once again, thank you

Nice going mate, those two songs do go well with each otherI loved how the vocals combine with the sahara melody at the break
Couple of issues you might wanna check first, the tunes have different tempos thats why at times it sounds abit out of sync. There are parts in the mix where for some reason the whole thing sounds really lo fiand well the whole mix isnt sharp and clear enough.
But other than that its great, well done!

cool idea. i'd be interested in hearing the update.

Posted by J.L. on Jul-13-2005 17:42:

ok guys.. thanks for your comments... I've attempted to completely rework it and try to improve on it so here it is once again.

There were a few quality degradations due to timestretching and some slight pitchbending but i tried my best to work around that by introducing other percussion elements and doing some other processing to it..

Anyways, here is the file once again:

Enjoy!

Sorry to sound offensive, but if it was in sync properly it would sound brilliant. You've definitely found a great mash-up here.

Maybe send the idea to whoever made the "Till There Was Harmony" mash-up (armin?).

Posted by TOR on Jul-14-2005 08:46:

the percussion still doesn't sit right. and it sounds like the Say Hello elements are too much on the background now in the mix.

maybe this mash-up would be better if you had the original parts.

anyway, good job overall.. both tracks go very well together

this defo has potential but it isnt always in sync, if you sort that it would be mint

the vocals could do with being a bit more dominant in the track too

Posted by Striderg on Jul-14-2005 12:39:

I must say, these songs go very nicely together, very nice job.

thanks for listening... i'll keep on working at it but won't have access to my computer for 2 weeks as I am going away but I'll try to update it again after that... I've been trying to timestretch it properly and found it somewhat hard b/c the tracks do have extra time breaks in it here and there and it has screwed up the tempo and I've been struggling to get it perfectly in sync... I'll work at it again after 2 weeks once more and I think I'll let this one go hehe...

Thank you Roman, erratik, mark, TOR, Luke, and Striderg, your ears were very much appreciated
