Hello lovely canadians! So here's a party we've been planning our escape to here in NY for months now. Just wondering what your guy's input on past events or anything to do with this is. We're taking a bus up there so expect about 60 good vibing americans! We can't wait and hopefully it'll ba a blast!!! A Teknival is a free non-commercial weekend-long gathering, a our celebration of the DIY (do it yourself) attitude, and an experiment in non-hierarchical organization. The festival encourages group autonomy and self-sufficiency.

Teknival is free from an entrance fee, but also from authority and leadership. Each individual or group is free to get involved however they want, for the love of what they do.
Ontario�s 2005 Teknival will take place July 14-18, *NEW* Location southeast of Bancroft area, near Gilmour, ON. Some pics of the location here!

There is private property near the site - please respect it so the party can go on!!!

Crown land rules: it is LEGAL for us to be on Crown Land provided we play by some simple, and often complimentary rules.
1) the regular laws apply regardless of permit
2) no permanent damage or changes are allowed without a permit
3) no profit may be made on Crown Land without permit
4) we can be there for as long as 3 weeks
5) it is for use by all members of the public, which means we can not limit access to it and must share it!

so the law supports the gift-exchange free spirited essence of teknival!

Bring enough food, water, shelter and supplies for yourself and everyone you bring up. Get together with friends into camps to share resources and responsibility. Buy in bulk to save money and garbage. More about what to bring with you

Toilets will NOT be provided. BURY YOUR OWN SHIT! Learn how to properly shit in the woods.

Clean up after yourself and those around you. Take out what you bring in (all your garbage fit in the car on the way up, it will fit on the way home too!). Leave no trace. Help clean up before you leave

LittlePoonzgirl, if you'd actually read my post in the right frame of mind...you'd have seen that I never once said there was anything wrong with candy raving hippy-ish ppl. And I'm really surprised that you would take that kind of tone with me. I certainly don't remember hearing that you went to support the Rave Rally as I did. So whatever it is that's upset you...I think you'd better re-evaluate.

I suppose I'm coming across as being really sensitive...so if I misread your intent and you didn't mean to give me a negative tone...then please forgive me. It just seems to me that lately...all I read is a lot of negatives at this site...and it's getting harder to know who's being sarcastically negative and who's not.

Well, sorry if that came across the wrong way. That's why sometimes I don't post as much as I would like. It's difficult to understand intentions on an online forum. You are right, there is too much negativity...though I choose not to contribute to it. Actually, this site isn't as bad as a few others I've read. Just keep this in mind: there are lots of people here that don't try to attack what others say and just want to have good friends and good times. Dont worry so much about all the people causing problems, I guess it's just the way a lot of people are now. Lead by example and remember to always smile *hugs*

Back to the thread. I would love to go to Teknival but there are a few problems I have. One in specific is that I am a girl and going in the woods normally is tricky. But doing that at a certain time of the month...that's just not my idea of a good time. If I wasn't so busy I would look into some way to set up a pay bathroom area as (a type of vendor) for others that would like that kind of option.

Anyone who has the chance to go to this, please do so and tell me all about it. I've heard so many good things and would like to go next year.

I will make sure to post allot of pictures once we get back to show you what you missed. The events been getting bigger every year so maybe if your cycle allows, you will be able to make it then

Hey girl, I don't know you (and I probably won't because I AM a metro clubber--don't have the connection with nature to be able to pull off an event like Teknival) but b4k-oz certainly isn't one...she just said above that she went to the Rave Rally so she's the Real McCoy.

This would be alot of fun.... I cant do it this year, too much money being spent on other parties, I really cant keep up, I cant keep dropping cash on these adventures

an off-board conversation was had about this thread and problem solved- it was bad verbalization of thoughts / words, which lead to basic misunderstandings. Problem was remedied.

Well it was blast. Our bus got through safely and we arrived friday afternoon. Our sound stage was of course the bomb and we had people dancing 24/7 the whole time. Checked out pink sox who helped organise the event and they were great too. Actually everyone was. There was a huge laser set up at the end which stretched it's beauty about a mile up the road. It was conveniently set up around the main pathway with the forests surrounding. I heard last year was a better location because it was less dense a forest to set your tents up and get some shade. But the music arenas were more condensed making the sounds almost indistinguishable, which sucks. This year it was just a bunch of different groups and few steps away from each other which made it like a little village of sound booths -great! The only downfalls of the event was some gangster wanna b's stealing shit, but they got kicked out, hot intense sunny periods which were luckily cooled off by a truck of water managed by a naked guy with a hose, and crossing the american border on the way back -damn dicks. Otherwise I highly recommend the party for everyone who can handle non-stop music for 4 days and of course the disbenifits that come with life in the woods.
