Associating certain colours/images with certain music...
Have you ever thought seeing a certain image or colour while listening to a track/CD? That happens to me a lot but, I don't know why and I cannot pinpoint what exactly is it that I'm "seeing". It's just like it's "there" but, you have to really get into the music to associate the colours/images with the music. Ambient music like Chris Zippel's Kim makes me think of the colour "Amber" but, I don't really know why. It just makes me think of it. Listen to it and see if you know what I'm talking about. By the way, I'm listening to a REMIX of Kim...

When I am listen to "System F - Out Of The Blue (5am Mix)", I get deeply into the BLUE...

All music, for me, generates some picture in my mind, although it would be impossible for me to describe it. I don't actually "see" the music mind you, but I do have some visual image in my mind as an imagined representation of the music.
And some music stirs up a stronger sense of visual represtation in my mind than other types. For instance, for whatever reason, Sasha - Xpander illicits some pretty vivid images in my mind, although there is no way known I could describe it..... maybe like a layered curtain of music? Kinda. I mean, I can "see" Xpander in my mind now, I know exactly what the music looks like, it's left a very deep impression on my brain. But describing it, for a mere mortal like me, is impossible.
I remember once doing a test on the internet a while back (may have been thespark.com or emode.com or something) on different types of thinkers. There are four or five different types of thinkers, including intuitive, sensible, aural...... actually I can't remember if they were actual categories, but something along those lines. Anyway, after doing the test, the program told me that I was a "visual" thinker. Now I can't remember exactly what that involves, but I've remembered it ever since. I always have some mental "depiction" of certain things, even things that don't lead themselves easily to depiction or conceptualisation - things like numbers and letters and so on. Anyway, I don't think it rings more true than the way I deal with music - I try to conceptualise it, picture it in my mind. Hard to explain, but that's just the kind of sub-conscious though process my brain goes through.
Even in a club or something, my brain is often quite sensitive - depending on the nature of the music - to the way lasers and lights are used. If the laser/light patterns and colours don't fit in with my mental depiction of the music then it kinda destroys the atmosphere for me.
And I think this whole "visual" method of learning explains exactly why it is that I like electronic music. I've read somehwere that electronic music is good for stimulating "imagination and creativity" as evidenced by the fact that many tribes (from different parts of the world) used music, with a strong, constant, dominant beat of the BPM 120-140 speed range, to illicit hallucinations in the dancers and anyone else taking part in the ritual. So, for whatever reason, "our" music seems to lend itself to visual thinkers, and I have noticed that it's only electronic music (particualrly trance and progressive) and classical music that stirs up these sort of "mental depictions" within me. I can't visualise pop music, rock music, or most other forms of music.
Anyway, without wishing to labour the point, I know exactly what you're talking about ali92. If anyone else knows anything about what I'm taking about here, please feel free to post about it here. 
that's why i love electronica. the music influences the way you think and really dwelves into someone's persona. some trackz make me think of a huge kickass party with the song playin' louuudd. others make me think of my g/f and smile. hehe. it all depends. blue is definitely a popular colour with trance trackz, to me at least, like th chillout tunes, a lot of them make me think of some imagery with like a blue matte over it ya know? it's nice.
I usually associate different music tracks with indescribable mental images. Electronica tracks are somehow usually pale blue, bordeaux or yellow. However, whether these images come from somewhere deep inside of me, or are simply mosaics of fragmented memories of cd-covers and club decorations/lights I don't know.
One thing I do know, is that I'm not one of those people who see letters and numbers as coloured. Apparently these people can see images "hidden" in a page of "random" numbers and even do arithmetics via colours. Fascinating!
Btw. Great topic ali! I've read all your new threads and you seem like a nice person with interesting things on your mind. Welcome to this place.
