Good News!!!

After 9 months of extreme hardship and chaos in my life, I would finally like to share some wonderful and exciting news with you all.

As many of you know, last September I returned to Canada from Geneva after working with the UN once again, making a very difficult decision in my life after so many years of travelling, studying and working abroad while continuously and consistently dedicating myself to carefully building my career in international human rights law. Since this time I have been struggling to find a foothold in the Canadian workforce with endless accounts of rejections despite my qualifications and extensive experiences in the various areas of human rights.

This past 3/4 of a year, I have gone through every imaginable pitfall. To say the least, it has been one intense & hair-raising emotional roller-coater ride! Despite being told over and over again that I am 'overqualified' and that I would need to 're-educate', and henceforth conducting numerous informational interviews to figure out where I am going wrong in my approach, I have at last found THE KEY, - a loophole to fit in.

I HAVE BEEN OFFERED A JOB!!!

I will start my new job next week with a small but reputable Law Boutique in the heart of Toronto where I will be able to apply myself in an area that is closely inter-woven with cross-border human rights. I will still be able to utilize my previous skills and qualifications and experiences from the international sphere, however, will basically be able to add on a whole new skill-set and acquire a vast variety of new knowledge in corporate and commercial law that is based on our ever-expanding global economic community.

At last, there is a silver lining on the horizon after a long and arduous 5 year cycle of 'finding myself' and figuring out what I want to get out of life, and how. So, this job is the first stepping stone to a new chapter in my life, and I am very excited and looking forward to start this new journey where I will be able to rise to a whole new challenge!

I would like to shout out a great big THANK YOU to all of you who have been so supportive and caring in this difficult time, and a special THANK YOU to my love, Richard, who has never stopped believing in me and has stood unwaveringly by my side throughout all this time!

-Silke

Congrats! That sux that you didn't get hooked up full-time on a permanent basis in the UN with all that experience you have! (Don't know if that was one of your priorities).

Anyway, see you at the next event! (I think Fuad introduced me to you at the Interference Productions Anniv. 2 at System)

Congratulations! So very happy for you sweetie. Richard is so right to say that you SO deserve this. Always knew that a women with your passion and enormous heart would find what she was looking for even if it meant surviving some difficult times. Time for disko-kandi to shine!

Your tenacity is inspiring! Looks like there is still hope out there for the rest of us who are not willing to settle. Pass the baton girlie, my search for something more meaningful has just begun!
