Cell phone advice - NYC
Hi guys. I was wondering if you guys knew anyone who could help me out with a cell phone issue...
Long story short I have two lines on Verizon Wireless that I want to cancel because I am switching to Cingular. Only problem is they are both in contract (one is my line, and then there is a 2nd line for $9.99/month... this counts as two seperate lines to cancel, or just one contract?). Price per line to cancel early is $175. So I'll be out $350.
Anyone know how I can get out of that? Maybe even get a reduced penalty?
Thanks guys,
Keith

Your gonna have to pay the $350. Only on very rare occasions have I seen anybody get out of their contract early without paying the full termination fee. I used to work for Cingular and would have hooked you up with something nice like a sponsorship plan or something (hooked fr0st up) but I quit last weekend because that company has their fucking heads up their asses....they promised me a cost of living raise when I moved to NYC from Pittsburgh and it's been three months and I haven't seen shit. Finally they told me since nothing was on paper that they couldn't do anything for me. I was going to transfer about a year ago to DC and my raise kicked in automatically but that's when I was still working for AT&T. Now that Cingular bought out AT&T everybody that was on the AT&T side are getting fucked hard....commissions are shit now, they are fucking with pay and benefits....pretty much pushing people out the door without firing them. The only people that are not quiting are the low lifes that can't find a better job......and that isn't me so fuck em!!!

Oh yeah: Just to give you a little idea how hard it is to get out of contracts. I had a lady come into Cingular and she had service with Verizon and her phone did not work in her new house. Her mother had cancer and she needed her cell phone to work everywhere that she was. So I put her on the phone with their customer care department and they wouldn't do shit for her. They told her to get a land line through Verizon. LOL

good luck..
Damnit... Not the responses I was looking for guys.

I did come across one of those stores that sells phones for all providers and the guy said he could hook me up (if I bought from him) with a $90/line cancellation fee because he knew someone on the inside at Verizon Wireless. Does that sound fishy/not legit to anyone? Brian, since you worked "on the inside" is something like that possible?
Cheers guys,
Keith

| Originally posted by vtec junkie I mean anything is possible...Im not sure how strict Verizon is with giving credits and shit but I do know anytime you did that shit with Cingular....red flags would fly. But I will tell you that those authorized dealers will tell you anything they want to get you to buy from them. Then when you find out they are full of shit you can't do anything because they set their own rules and pretty much have no return policy. So be careful!!! |

Yeah, I'm worried about them telling me they will cancel the contract (the authorized dealers) and then I keep getting bills from Verizon because nothing ever happened. So basically cancelling a cell phone contract is one of the worst things on earth? |

The only thing that didn't impress me was the battery life....deff not 5-7 hours talk time that they advertize. But the phone itself and the features it offers are great. The bluetooth worked well and the signal was also good....also the camera is pretty impressive for a cell phone. |

I have had them since October of last year and at first their service sucked ASS. But i have noticed it has gotten better.....i went through a period for maybe a month or so where none of our phones worked as soon as we stepped into our house, i called them n they were very helpful, then a month later they gave us a $15 credit on each line for the "inconvenience" i remember when n if i ever had service problems with AT&T or Cingular, they were like oh well too bad, better luck next time.
