It's actually Mount Charleston, Nevada which is less than an hours drive from Las Vegas in the middle of the desert, which is the precise reason asked where people would think it is as Las Vegas is not known for having 10000 ft mountains at it's doorstep.

But anybody visiting the Las Vegas area I highly recommend should visit here, it was REALLY quiet and absolutely beautiful.

It was an Olympus C-350 Zoom, I managed to destroy it on my way back home though by putting it in my backpack where there was a leaking can.

Though I've since bought another one off Amazon.co.uk Marketplace for �85, which is less than 1/3 of what I paid for the original one.
