Description: I wanted to create a rather personal mix that followed some sort of theme, I haven't really stuck to any rules or formula here, the mix is only 40 minutes long and it fuses different styles, but the outcome is something that is very special to me and I want to share it with others. All of the songs in my opinion are beautiful, contain a lot of emotion, and have been carefully selected and arranged to maximum effect.

Hey, downloading right now. I was wondering about the site though. How did you get your mix on there, on the front page it says you can only have a 1 GB file and also it seems like an e-mail service. However, your link worked great. I would love to host my mix as you have here.
Listening to the mix right now. I see we have Donnie Darko, nice. I like the first two songs, great mix between, however the music is a little more upbeat than what the creepy first audio clip leads us on to. I believe the others work well though. Also, the second song for some reason seems to be of lower-quality. Ok, so I have come to the 22:43 mark and there is a huge mood shift. The first 3 or 4 tracks, lost count, were beautiful, chilled, but not dark. At this point the mix takes a quick and drastic turn in the dark direction. The thing is I like both haves of the mix, especially the second half, where you did some pretty cool mixing and the mood was haunting. However, it feels very disjointed to me. I would like to see you build upon the second half and the dark mood of that and then I may have a new favorite chilling-out mix. Original work, though.

I agree the songs are a little upbeat, I didn't want to go too deep and I wanted to keep on the melodic side for this mix.
You are right about the mood shift, I had a pretty hard time getting that transition how I wanted, I had many different ideas and methods and in the end I thought this one worked best.
I wanted to create an impact by changing the style, as I said I haven't really followed any rules, I wanted a themed mix, and I think the tone of the songs work really well with the quotes from my favourite film, I think if you have seen Donnie Darko you can identify with this mix more.
Many thanks for the feedback, you have made some good points which I will learn from in the future, I'm glad you thought it was original work too, that is what I wanted to create, and for my first recorded mix I think it worked out pretty well.
just listened to the mix...a few points id like to make...good mixing throughout the mix...and yes..one does get the feeling that its a themed mix...ive seen the movie too
...and u get points for originality as well...
however...i think that the mood change around the 23-24 min mark does more harm than good...u would have been better off making two diff mixes...as the first half of of your mix has a nice sunset feel to it and the latter half is very dark n myterious...perhaps the 20 min mark is too short of a time for each setting....perhaps u cd make a 2 hr mix giving an hr to each syle....thus enabling to make a more smoother transition...also i thought the vocals from the movie were a bit too much...but then again...maybe it was ur idea to incorporate them as u wanted a themed mix based on the movie...
final note...the whole set sounds like a soundtrack from the movie....if that was ur intention...uve achieved it! however id be interested in hearing u put together a bunch of unthemed songs while yet giving a flow to the set...
these r just my opnions...u need not agree or disagree!
cheers
Thank you for your feedback, I'm very happy that you said it sounded like a soundtrack to the movie as I tried my best to use tracks that would give this impression.
I think you are right about the mood change and the length, I wanted the mix to be longer but I had trouble finding tunes that worked well with the theme and I didn't want any tracks to seem like they were fillers.
I now see that the tracks and samples used are very personal and special to me so I'm not expecting everyone to be as blown away by it as I am, if you liked the second half of this mix may I suggest you listen to my new mix "I'm Happy, She Said" I think you would really enjoy it. Thanks
