And it's boring. Sue me.

(What's so special about it?)

Edit: No, really. It's f*cking boring.

overated imo..

you do not have a great taste in music then...

that album is full of everything, and has the best feel to it...

my friends who despise "gino beats" fell inlove with the first disc of that album when i played it in my car...it just caters to such a variety of taste

and when i first heard it...Petter - all together, YOU ARE SLEEPING, HAYLING, OUTHOUSE (all songs just blew up after that album) i wass inlove with house and that style of music..it caters to my taste on such a different level then plain synths and beats

Posted by meneedit on Jul-17-2005 23:24:

Did you like any of the tracks?

P.S

I think of Involver as the next '005'.

It's got a good ordering of tracks and good mixing.

Will do. I have heard mostly positive words about Balance 005, so I'll give it another chance.
I heard that some albums become good after 2 or more listenings. I suppose Balance 005 is one of them.

And who decides that? I thought tastes are not to be discussed...

yeah your right, but im going by thought and just musical theory behind the music that was on the album..all which is very advanced and is an example of pure quality

just give it some time..like someone else said...itll grow on you

The only track I seem to skip is the Outhouse (Fluffy Mix). It's great but I'm just tooo goddamn impatient to wait for the original mix. And Fortune Telling Fish -> You Are Sleeping is the absolute climax of the mix. Brilliant! I find my self getting shivers whenever I hear that part of the disk.

Gauss, what exactly don't you like about it. Beside being bored? I love balance, but then again not everybody is going to enjoy a cd right? So you don't like it thanks for sharing, and contributing absolutely nothing!

By the same argument, you yourself have contributed absolutely nothing. In fact, it looks like you've managed to degrade the quality of the forum by posting an ad hominem attack instead of responding to the poster's question. Sometimes people ask questions when they're looking for answers, not assholes.

On topic: the bit I find the most fascinating is the mix between tracks 2 through 5 on the first disc (Antrieb through All Together). I ripped the cd as a continuous mix and put it on my mp3 player, and when I finally went back to look at the tracklist (a few weeks later after many listens) I was stunned to see All Together wasn't the third track. The entire mix is focused on subtleties that really do require active listening, instead of the passive listening you can get away with on nearly all other mixes.

balance 005 by holden is probably one of the best compliations i've ever bought. great mixing, awesome tracklisting, and the finish of the 1st cd is fantastic. it's definately not boring, you probably didn't listen close enough.

Yeah, probably. That's why I said I'll listen to it once again.

005 is the best mix cd ever made yet! There is such a high varity of differen sounds, from ambient to house to trance to techno to electro... And especially CD1 is just perfect (its mixed by protools, but I dont care because no one could do that with tts). I got that cd for 2 1/2 years now and I still listen to it at least one a week. that cd was so ahead of what is called electronic music like nothing else was back then.

HELL I CANT WAIT FOR HOLDENS NEW MIX CD THIS YEAR!!! Will be most likely a new Bugged Out

Few can deny it is a superbly compiled and mixed album, but that doesn't mean there won't be people who will be bored by it. Not everyone can like everything! What are some other albums you like? If it's completely outside your usual interest spectrum then it may just be that you won't feel it.

I'm a fan of uplifting and I prefer it over progressive...
For example, my favorite series of compilations is In Trance We Trust (001-009, Xtra).
