Your own or theirs?

Not my style of EDM. Having said that about the time the track with the "fish" vocals came around I started getting more into the vibe and enjoyed things more.

I liked the longish transitions. I liked the "edits" mixed into the set, gave it some added continuity.

Decent mix for me considering the genre (whatever it is )

dude, stop whining.

01. not that many ppl are into your style around here, so obviously not everyone who takes a peek at this thread will download your set.

02. you don't just listen to a set in a couple of minutes, be patient. in my experience, it often takes two or more weeks to listen to a set i downloaded from here. not everyone has 24 hours of free time a day.

03. your attitude does not invite people to download/comment on your set. you're not the most important person on this board, you know.

1) even if you dont listen to it right away you could respond "hey looks cool, ill check it out" "Or no sorry man not really my style". Instead i get blank space. And sure this doesnt just apply to me it applies to everyone who post a mix in this forum..

2) i could give a rats ass about what anyone thinks of my attitude I am sure I have contributed more to this forum than about 75% of everyone here..

Im sorry if my tracklist isnt loaded with Gabriel and dresden or markus shulz or AVB tunes.. I strive to be different in a world of mediocore music. The days when people went to clubs or dled music to hear something different are gone. people like the people listed above have killed the scene and everyone knows what to expect... And if it is different people just pass over it..

I guess all of this i am realizing now as i stated before this will be the last mix I bother to post in this forum...

you give some, you get some, and i'm not talking about that annoying gf of yours, but have you been around to all the other 'less important' posters than yourself, and given them hints & advice, feedback etc ? If not then I have no sympathy, the fact your attitude is appaling means it doesn't matter how good your mix is, I'll give it a miss & listen to someone who may not be as cool in the tracklistings as you but who genuinely contributes here.

I admit i dont give asmuch as i could to this area. But I dont go and dl peoples mix with out posting anything about it.. If i do i post my thoughts the good the bad etc.... If i had more time id love to dl peoples mixes but in my current position i just dont have time.... I do contribute in the production forums and party reviews tracklistings etc..

Frost hmmm,

Well I dunno if this thread is the place to discuss the mechanics of this forum... however

Point *1*
Page 2 of this forum. There are 15 threads with 2 or less replies.

Point *2*
I can't make a mix. If I could, then I suspect, that after having put in the time and the effort to put together what I thought was an interesting tracklist, that it would be rewarding to get some positive feedback. I also suspect that no response would be dissapointing/disheartening. In other words I can imagine your frustration...

But look back at point *1*. By observing the general trends in here you should innoculate yourself in the sense that most of the time there is very little response to a mix in here. Even my one little review is more than many get

We can have an interesting discussion about why that is? What the demographic of the people who read this forum are, what kind of music they are into, on what basis they select a mix to download etc. etc.

But at the end of the day, regardless of the reasons the *effect* is that few mixes get commented on. i.e. Point *1*

*****
So back to you. If the placing a mix online here generally doesn't provide you with any value psychologically then why bother? It's a great question.

I can't answer it for you. All I can do is tell you what I would do. If I were you, then i'd continue to make mixes for myself that I thought were cool, and I'd post the odd one here expecting to be disapointed. But at least i'd have done my part and tried to share.

Posted by fr0st on Jul-22-2005 00:05:

Well, i should have been more general.. Everyone's mixes should have more comments..... Not just mind people go completely out of their way to post about the latest "insert big dj name here" sets. even though the tracklist for the most time are very similar and in some cases the mixes posted here show a greater technical ability. But that is too be expected as people arent in it just for the music anymore. They want to see their "favorite" dj. In anycase clubing has become more of a concert event (far as the large venues are concerned). Its the people who still go out too see the lesserknown local dj who are the ones still supporting the scene...

I hear your frustration with no replies on the mix. I just released my first mix on this board (aptly titled My first mix) and I haven't recieved one reply. There are two sides of course, as brought up no one is here to go out of their way to please you, and most people are very busy. Anyways, that being said here's how I felt about your mix.

I would love, and I really do mean that, to hear this mix in a club. Very, techy, and I think it would be just a blast in the club. The mix, however, doesn't really lend itself well to at home listening, at least for me. Your transitions are nice, a few pretty cool ones might I add. I would love to hear a liveset of yours, if you have one. Actually now that I think about it, I could've sworn you posted one recently. Off to check that out. Looking forwar to hearing more.

Its pretty simple mate!! Take the time to listen to a few mixes on here and give some honest feedback, once people on here see your not on here just for yourself other DJs will start to listen to yours and start to give you feedback.

If the feedback is good then more people will start to download and listen to your mixes!! You have to remember there are hundreds of mixes on here! Ask yourself why you haven't left any feedback on any other mixes on here and you will of probably answered your own question!!

Posted by richg101 on Jul-22-2005 02:09:

it pisses me off when i dont hear any feed back on my tracks but seriously,

it seems a bit off to be going mental when people dont post feedback about your mix.

i have listened to so many trax on this site and have not wanted to say anything due to my lack of knowledge in production.

i have never really understood this dj mixing forum... anyone can seamlessly mix from one track to another if they have tech's. there is only so much you can do when mixing dance and scratching is a waste of time with trance.

there is no way putting an hours mix on this site will make anyone famous or provide anyone with respect. if people are going to be interested then they will be. if not then dont worry because its your taste that counts.

just keep going with what your doing because if thats what you play then play it and follow your own direction.

Personally, I think a lot of you are very biased. You should NOT have to gain respect in a forum by posting tones of replies in order for people to listen to YOUR mix, you gain respect when people DO listen to you mix and they like it. This becomes a catch22 situation though. The less you post the less you are recognized and are labeled a "NEWBIE" and therefore you will not likely get any feedback nor will people even download your mix.

This is almost as bad as everyone voting for Tiesto because he is "#1", when really he is NOT the best DJ in the world by any means.. he is simply the most well known worldwide and continues to exceed myself and others in his commericial advertising. Everyone should be treated equally on this forum whether you have been here for years or only a few days, it should not matter. I am sure many of you feel fr0st' pain when people keep downloading your mix with no feedback whatsoever (me being one of them). However, there is no need to be ignorant and rude to the other users on this forum. Subey has a very valid point and its simple: this entire TA forum is huge, and this is only one small section. No one has the time to download each and every mix nor do they have the time to always post a response.

My suggestion? Post more on the forums and you will garner a better reputation.. and keep posting your mixes until you do get some replies.

My 2 Cents

hey djx2 i dig your vanidt mix bro!!

Fr0st not my style mate but thanks for sharing, and don't take these TAs' lack of feedback too personally. we know they're twats

just because you decided to spin some minimal techno doesn't mean we should all pm you to ask if we can give you blowjobs for being so cool.

Posted by scumpunk on Jul-27-2005 21:36:

TL Looks good

I have been searching for mixes like this all day. I am a big fan of minimal techno and this looks shit hot.
Sort of tunes sasha might be playing I think at the moment (Looking at his latest mix CD).

Mix is downloading and further feedback will be coming.

Must mention that, ys it is frustrating when you take the time to put mixes out there and get no feedback, but dont lose your rag about it.

One day someone important might hear one of your mixes from a forum and something could come from it. Keep your head up mate.

Back soon, S-Punk
