Then you guys totly missed out on Above and Beyond then (imo)
James was twisted, dark and dirty, I love the fact that he can add what ever soundes he wants into the track he is playing or about to mix mixing in. But I did not feel him at all tonight. I was pretty much board musically.
I know I am going to get flamed for saying that... but that is my oppion.....

I dont think you should get flamed for your opinion...his style is very different and it takes some getting used to. Live at Avalon the basslines were simply ridiculous...we all danced our butts off.

My reiview:

WE GOT OWNED AGAIN.

Opening DJ played a great set...and I turn around and theres James walking through the crowd to the DJ booth.

What followed was about 2.5 hours of crazyness.

James ROCKED it...sick tracks from start to finish...perfect effects and scratching and great mixing. It was just AWESOME to be two feet away and watch his handywork. Between EFX-1000, Ableton effects and CDJ loops/scratching it was simply ridiculous. This guy has more skills that 95% of EDM DJs out there...I have a new #1 favorite DJ and its James "Robot" Zabiela.

I got some nice photos...including a great one of the entire TA group with James in the middle. I'll post them tomorrow since I dont have photoshop on this PC. But what a GREAT night. James is the coolest guy ever, taking time to talk with us outside and sign posters. Class act.

COME BACK TO LA SOON!

Love JAMES WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A NIGHT!!!! I don't think James realizes how AWESOME he is! Don't be so modest, u know YOU ROCK!!!!

I was dancing so hard the entire night!! "Robotphobia" is insane! Now I know why all u guys go nuts over it! YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO SURRENDER!!!!! That, along with EVERY tune he played, holy fuck! I wish this set was recorded!

James, I should have taken that sweaty t-shirt u were gonna give me at the end of the night, but I'd rather have sweat from your body all over me!! jk

(maybe i'm not kidding!!!)

We all have different taste in music, so it's all good. Cheesy, kiddy trance is definetely NOT my style!!

Posted by Hypersky on Jul-19-2005 10:26:

BTW, not sure who was playing it, James or the bloke before, but that track with the 'Help me Obi Wan Kanobe' sample was seriously messing with my head.

ok, im cool with that, but then you have some major editting to do on your myspace page.

Damn, I didn't think Avalon could be topped, but it just was. JZ is the undisputed champion in the DJ world!! Seriously though, it's tough to beat this guy. He's a class act and entirely too modest about it. James, thanks for chatting it up outside at the end with all of us, even though you were hella tired. Get over that cold!

And since I know you jokers can't wait, here are a few of my favorite pics from the evening.
