The word "fail" should be banned say British teachers
Okay this is just getting pathetic...I don't find our school system in particularly HARD and it seems to be deteriorating somewhat...regardless, all these latest ideas about "students being too stressed" or "there's too much work" and now THIS just makes me laugh my ass off

| Get ready to e-mail this one to your friends... Wed Jul 20, 9:02 AM ET LONDON (Reuters) - The word "fail" should be banned from use in British classrooms and replaced with the phrase "deferred success" to avoid demoralizing pupils, a group of teachers has proposed. Members of the Professional Association of Teachers (PAT) argue that telling pupils they have failed can put them off learning for life. A spokesman for the group said it wanted to avoid labeling children. "We recognize that children do not necessarily achieve success first time," he said. "But I recognize that we can't just strike a word from the dictionary," he said. The PAT said it would debate the proposal at a conference next week. |
That's complete bullshit.
Man, that's riddiculous and absurd. Cradling kids too much I dont think helps them either later on in life....

| Originally posted by starsearcher It helps them from becoming a panzy Failing in school doesn't mean failing in life necessarily... I see this turning already spoiled kids into even more whiney spoiled kids...and later in life when they DO fail in something they wouldn't know how to deal with it...failure is a part of life you can't be great at everything and you learn that at a younger age...you'll take it much harder if you learn that later in life IMO |
"Deffered success"????????
COMPLETE joke....
So maybe a loss in the Premier League should
be called a deferred victory

kids get DIPLOMAS for "graduating" grade 5 now... WTF??! a diploma for high school is barely warranted...
celebrating their mediocrity is NOT the way to build up confidence in our kids... the world is officially fucked..
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
That's hilarious.
We do the same thing though. There was a study done a couple years ago about how if you 'promote' someone's job title, while not necessarily increasing their salary, it increases their job satisfaction.
i.e.
Secretary - Administrative Assistant
Garbageman - Sanitary Engineer
I've got an idea!
Why dont we just remove the letter 'F' from the alphabet altogether?
y even go to school
