Promo vinyl ... ?
hi every 1 can some 1 please tell me whats promo vinyl and whats a
different between promo vinyl and vinyl please .
another thing is i started mixing 3 month ago and i realy dont know
what kind of vinyl i have to buy . i want to buy vinyl but i dont
know should i buy a promo vinyl or just a vinyl ! the seller has
both wich 1 i should buy ?
some times i find 1 song in 2-3 different label how i can find the best 1 ?
Usually a promo vinyl is one that is used for "promotional"
purposes. Perhaps limited distribution to see how well it is received before more pressings or early distributions to DJs to get some exposure for the track.
If I'm wrong on this, someone correct me plz.
For the same track being pressed on different labels, I would say that comes down to your preference. I have heard that some people believe that a track pressed to be played at 33 rpm's has better sound quality than one pressed for 45 rpm play. If this is true (I don't know if it is or not) than perhaps you should select the label that has your tune pressed at 33. Speculation on my part of course.
Again, if I'm wrong, anyone can correct me.

buy what you like and what sounds good
Promo's are exactly the same as normal releases, sometimes promo's are just a plain white label but the same tracks are on it that would be on the full release.
Also promo's shouldnt cost more than the full release, it all depend's on how quickly you want the record, if you want it quick buy a promo, if you can wait buy the full release

doubt it matters between a promo n full
some promo's r releasd to only like 20 dj's around the world, for free
so the track can get played before its released to see if its even worth releasing
As mentioned earlier, promo vinyls are promotion vinyls that are pressed in limited copies 3-4 weeks before the actual vinyl release.
They often come without the full packaging and are mainly for Dj's who want to play out these tracks before the actual release date. The idea behind promo vinyls is to gauge the tracks potential.
Some promo vinyls are available at the online record stores for the public to purchase whereas some are only pressed in extremely limited numbers(50-100) for the A-list Dj's to spin at their parties.
These come at a higher price, often 2-3 pounds more than the regular price.
You should go in for the promo if you REALLY like a release and can't wait for the release date. Otherwise, it would be wiser to wait and get the same vinyl cheaper.
If you are confused what to buy, look at Chemical Records for instance. Search for any record that you like and look at the info of that record. It will also list other releases that customers have purchased(often similiar in style). Same thing with Juno.
