The Ashes Begin

Well, the pyjama game is over, and it's time for the real deal, that's the longer game. I know some of you lot are looking fotrward to it, so let's see how it goes

Test 1 - Lords

Ponting wins the toss (heads didn't fail him this time) and has chosen to bat.

let's ave it

Justin Langer, meet Steve Harmison

Steven Harmison, meet 9 runs an over.

Well done on not bowling a wide.

Jeez, he's moving it around a bit though.

not really happy with Hoggard at the moment, he looks to be lacking form, plus he HATES bowling with Koertzen with umpire, as you've seen, he's so fussy about the 'danger area' and always is more than any other current umpire

yeah, he's been a bit all over the place, not really a consistent line so far. Having said that, he has bowled a few doozies.

**Edit
Jeez, shouldna said that!
Good ball.

quite surprised, he bowls well to left handers (Graeme Smith can't bat against him, he got him every match last winter)

Dunno why Jones doesn't open.
Rate him higher than Hoggard

Jones tries to swing it too much on a new ball, I think he's more comfortable coming in 1st or 2nd change, though i'd consider Flintoff to open at times

australia batting- 4/73 not very promising so far

Michael Clarke - today is your day. This is the opportunity he has needed in recent times to remind us of what he is capable of. I'm not his greatest fan, but today may well be something special. (I hope)

Love is in the air

Time for the middle order to shine.

probably about as high as you'll get given out to, it happens tho, and either team would get the same decision from koertzen, so its sods law

Posted by Trance Nutter on Jul-21-2005 11:31:

yeah, true. In reality most umpires would probably have given that out. It was one of those decisions thats right either way. (Somewhat like Hoggard's foot with Langer)

Whats done is done, ump said its out, so it is.

fucking yes
