Thanks Tiesto. Thanks for making trance shit.

Get fuckin' real...

Posted by NuDarkBeat on Jul-23-2005 14:02:

wow wise words from ory the god of trance. well i agree that you should all stop bashing tiesto b.c even though he doesnt spin music to my liking he has done a lot for the scene reguardless. in all seriousness people used to complain so much that the scene was dying and whata not. as much as you wont like to admit it tiesto has brought alot back into the scene. how could one person make trance shit is he some type of omnipotent trance overlord that forsees all productions and chooses what is released and made. your a fucking retard for real

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jul-23-2005 14:04:

All Tiesto did was usher in an endless production line of banal vocal trance, blowing the genre down to the level of danceable pop.

Wow, yet another thing you fail to realise. How pop culture works.

Posted by Inertia on Jul-23-2005 14:08:

well, no. but when one guy whores trance music as much as he has, and tries to give his shows, where he is nothing more than a glorified jukebox that can't even beatmatch too well, a 'rock concert' type feel, with a < barred from the crowd by a fence 20 meters away > stage, and is selected to be the sole representative of electronic music in the biggest event where it has ever been featured (the Olympics) whilst playing the same old boring crap as always and having his beats drift, and being picked over thousands of better DJs as the #1 in the world...

well, yeah. i can't say he's made it shit all by himself, but he is helping a generous bit.

oh and pop culture also causes the quality of productions over the years to drop dramatically. get real.

to what system j said. im sorry buddy but it was on its way there long before tiesto was big and anybody knows that. i dont know if you remember but tiesto used to be one of the best trance djs on the planet. in my opinion he just went more with the flow of what was already in progress. once again you are suggesting that he alone has power over the entire genre of trance and that is impossible.

Isn't it cool how every thread ends in Yay or Nay to Tisto lately?

It wasn't Tiesto's fault, per say. He made a stream of huge (and admittedly very good) vocal trance hits, such as his remix of Silence, and the rest of the money-men followed him onwards.

Appearing on the radio does not make a genre pop. There were countless artists on the radio before Tiesto. Jam & Spoon were the first. However, trance remained a largely instrumental genre, focussed around the introduction of layers and key melodies. When vocals entered the equation, it slowly became a shift towards choruses and verses. Despite an allergic reaction by much of the scene which turned everyone to prog, the dedicated trance core kept throwing out vocal after vocal. The end result three years down the line was ATRC being the most popular "trance" track of the year, despite having none of the characteristics which define it as true trance.

Oh, and Ory: you're talking shit. You don't have a clue. Pop is controlled by talented song writers making hits then attaching pretty faces to them. Tiesto's career has been self-made.

No, I'm another Tiesto. There are two tiestos now.

BTW, there's a difference between hating and making fun of. Just becuase you do the latter does not mean that you hate whatever it is you're making fun of.

Posted by jparknyc on Jul-23-2005 16:57:

these types of threads are exactly why i don't care to post much anymore. you guys should really research your shiet and then try and debate it. it's quite annoying trying to read about what the posted title tag says and then ends up being a couple of bitches fighting over pathetic, and i mean PATHETIC, arguments over a has been dj. Why not stick to the issue of the thread and have the forums be more pleasant for EVERYONE.
