10x, late/
People, please enlighten me. Wtf is all this "10x" and "late/" crap about? In the space of 4 weeks everybody seems to be doing it! WHY?! Does "late/" just mean "later"?? It's more effort to type "late/" than "later" isn't it? I mean the "/" is right over the other side of the keyboard.
And "10x"?? What's wrong with just typing "Thanks"? Is it supposed to mean "Thanks ten times" or something? What's the point, if everybody's typing 10x then it loses all meaning.
Please people, from the bottom of my heart, can we stop this madness? Thanks.

i was wondering was 10x means as well...i thought it was 10 times, but 10 times what? now i think it means thanks but i wouldn't pronounce thanks like tenx

Hmmmm, i guess we all have our own ways of saying stuff, i abbreviate a lot of stuff cos (1) it's easier and quicker to type it.
Plus it's also "trendy" or cool to use various forms of slang spesh (2) on message brds(3).
i have seen ppl (4) use 10x and late for a long time on the boards and in chat.
We all do it, i tend to use for example "m8" for mate and "l8r" for later, that type of stuff.
PS. Is this really a serious issue for u (5) Spad & Coup?
PPS. The numbers in brackets that are in various places in this post are there to indicate abbreviations.

well firsly spad only added me into this coz i was talking to him in chat, but as im here, l8r, m8, all make sense m-eight which sounds like m"ate" it makes sense, 10x? 10x what? and late/? makes no sense at all, what henkie posted, l@a@z, that make sense, coz atleast the @ looks like A, / has no resemblence to R at all, and 10x? 10x what?

Wicked Neo just volunteered in the chatroom to become official TA Language Officer. That means no more saying "10x" or "late/". Also, Neo has added c*** to the list because, well it vulgar. If you say any of these words you will be dealt with swiftly and accordingly. Don't say he didn't warn you.
EDIT: Spad would like to make it clear that this actiion is not endorsed by Swamper or the mods. He would also like to make it clear that Swamper and the mods can't look after all the baseball bats in the world at once.

well i cant explain the actions of everyone on thhe internet, since ive seen some really bizarre word creations using mispelling, insertion of numbers, symbols, etc. MY late thing is just my sorta lame way of ending everything like a signature. i dont choose to change my font, colors or whatever, i just end everything with a "/" for some reason, maybe just cause no one else does. as for the "late" instead of later, thats just how me and my friends say it in Colorado, as well as some radio personalities. plus saying later is kinda cheesy now. so I say late, peace (read also: peez, peece, peas) and then follow that with a "/". its prolly confusing and stupid, but so are most things in life and especially on the internet, so i guess i apologize, but that doesnt mean im gonna stop doing it.
as for people saying 'be cool in real life, and not the forums', then maybe we should get rid of smileys, and especially picture sigs and avatars, since 95% of those are a basic attempt at looking or representing yourself in a cool manner. leave me alone with my 'late/'.
