how hot should the cdj 1000 mk2 get?
for some reason i think my cdj may have an issue with that... it seems to heat up where the digital displays are at the top and in the center of the jog wheel and my cds come out very hot
is this common?
Re: how hot should the cdj 1000 mk2 get?
They spin CD's faster than the regulars, so they can get bit hot.
If there is no smoke, your fine.
Yeah well fair enough but i mean the thing gets HOT... like almost to the point where it is too hot for my hand to touch
i mean this is pretty much the most expensive cdj on the market and i worked hard to earn the $$$$... so i just want to make sure it works fine before the warranty runs out
Are you sure that your players get enough air ? (enough away of mixer, etc, not directly in sun etc).
oh yeah i am referring to right now... it is night time over here... and my cdj is on a table with ventilation on every face except the bottom, so when you say they get a little hot, is it noticably "warm/hot"?
or just kinda warm?
Well my players (MK2's) only get warm not hot. Sometimes the CD's are
pretty hot, but there are differences on CD's.
well its operating temperature range is from 5 - 35C so if it's getting hotter than that it is screwed (probably with the power supply or something like that), if not, then it's fine.
yeah i think something is wrong with it now... its starting to stall while playing... sounds kind of like skipping but its more like temporarily freezing and then playing again... with brand new burned cds..frustrating!

its as if the "computer memory" is maxed out... on this particular track by trentemoller... there are all these weird sounds and layers, and at the very same point on two different brands of blank cds it had that issue.... and this is using a high quality wave file, the cd's both work fine on my car stereo and my $100 boom box... yet my $10,000 dj system can't handle it??
i really do think this has something to do with it over heating... because it gets very hot after about 45 min

yeah i guess i will have to do that... although i wish this didn't happen in the first place
yeah the thing is... i am buying alot more tracks in wav format now and i plan on using the cdj1000s back and forth for extended periods of time... i wouldn't mind it heating up but it does affect performance and i just cannot have that... the company i am dealing with is going to exchange it for me which i am quite pleased about
ok people i have a follow up for you all
heres what i finally clued into
i noticed that the only time the cdjs would freeze up were the points where the music would get very techy and glitchy like that really weird break in the trentemoller remix of "coincidance"
i somehow got into the habbit of turning on the "master tempo" feature and for those of you who do not know what that is, it is a feature that holds the pitch constant regardless of a change to the tempo to any extent
it finally clicked in my mind, that there could be the possibility that pioneer has not mastered this feature completely (which they haven't)
so i turned off that feature and the rest is history... no more problems, no more tracky, freezing
so really what was happening was at those points where there were such diverse and quick variations of the pitch in the original track... the cdj could not process it fast enough and therefore would freeze up for a split second here and there
its good to have my cdjs working great now
Hmm, I have NEVER heard anything like that with my CDJ-1000's, and I use master tempo almost all the time.
It does it on BOTH your CDJ's? Is it reproducible 100% of the time? Try and find a track that causes the problem 100% of the time on both your players, and then I'd contact Pioneer. Seems very odd to me.

My CDJ-1000's do get warm I'd say, but not "hot". My Denon DN-X1500, on the other hand, gets so hot on the bottom that you can literally burn yourself (I'm not kidding!).

for those of you who want to have a listen and a look at what is happening
download these quick video clips

be sure to look at the jog dial as it freezes up as well
and this happens ONLY when MT is on
I just read your thread on the pioneer dj forums. glad that you fixed the problem though but i still think thats wierd how the master tempo does that. BTW where did you get your 1000s from and for how much
lol
i can't say.... but they were purchased from a licensed dealer and they did say that it would be no problem to return them
these are brand new cdjs
and yeah it is weird but i believe it is just the current version of MT that is the issue
