scot project @ avalon review

not much of a review but all i can say right now before i head off to sleep was that the only word to describe the music was fierce. there were no luls. his set was non stop energy from the moment he got on. my friend was tired so we left at 5:30. those who stayed, how was the rest of the set?

Posted by BiG MiKE on Jul-24-2005 10:41:

Damn. Wish I was there. I figured it would've been non-stop energy

Overdrive was what had me stomping.

Arome- Hands Up was the song to follow Overdrive and I was happily dancing the night away.

god I miss Avalon already

God, It was my first time seeing Scot Project. Set was full of energy but way TOO hard for me. What was it? Hard Trance, Techno Trance and sometimes pure Techno (that's what Frnak told me). But anyway - jet lagged, tired, sun burnt i still had a lot of fun.
Thanks - Frank, Felix, Niina for coming over with me, Stas, Marina, Veno, Rod!!!!!
Overdrive was great but how about Rank1 and the wierdest remix of Shivers that he opened with

damn... ur quick as hell with the pics...nice pics btw...

scot project left around.. i want to say 5:30ish... maybe a little later. he left pretty abruptly. The only reason i noticed he was gone was because the music began to lighten up and i look up and it's not him anymore... didn't take away anything from the night... if ur into hard hard ish... avalon was the place to be...

Posted by LordQuinnTrance on Jul-24-2005 12:36:

Woohoo! this was a great night. Neon I also busted a serious move to overdrive. That is one of most favorite songs that he played. I didn't see Sveta or dknylady. Or maybe I did see Sveta in the DJ booth the entire time I am not sureI took few pics which I will post later.

what a fantastic set. totally ripped it from the first track as said. The Shivers mix he opened with was the Alex M.O.R.P.H. Dub. He stopped at 6am after he played Arome - Hands up and everyone was screaming French Kiss.. but he didn't drop it :<

Still, amazing set.. sucks he only comes once around every few years.

Posted by pvd420 on Jul-24-2005 17:01:

i walked in half way through shivers and knew instantly that this was going to be a great set...

it definitely does suck that he comes around only every few years. had he been back to nyc since his gig at limelight in summer 01? I dont know. he was really good that night too.

i thought armin/remy was going to be my fav set of the year but last night topped it. some might complain that scot projects music is too hard and sometimes cheesy but you know what, i'd rather hear that than fluffy slow boring shit like i've been hearing the last couple of shows i have been to.

when you think back and realize that you only stopped moving once or twice for a few moments the whole night, you know it was a great time.

scot proj would never pull in a crowd big enough to fill crobar but i could see him playing at spirit next time he comes back. hopefully not 4 years from now...

Now if you take into consideration that, most likely, about half of those people are under 21, would you still say that? Secondly, a full house at Avalon, is alittle more than half full at Crobar.

yesterday wasnt packed. tiesto last june there was packed.

I actually bought that 2x12 of "A1 The Album" Some good stuff

Great night, great set! But the only thing sucked is that there is no condition - that kind a ruined a night, but still it was great=)

Posted by dknylady on Jul-25-2005 03:40:

hey thanks for the gbook post pvd actually though i was at tiesto last year and i think, while that was worse, this wasn't that much better! (crowded and hot wise)

anyway, i thought he played much too light! he plays harder than that in sets I've heard from some of his european gigs and such. Shit, I play harder than that. But the man is still a legend with flawless mixing and enthusiastic performance, which i totally respect. I love this guy, have sooo many of his vinyls...i got to meet him and get my pic with him (will get that later).

here's a few pics from the night and a 30 sec vid i took with my camera (sorry no sound).

short little avi vid

you're welcome i had forgotten how much i used to listen to scot project. i went through some of my cds that i had burned a few years ago with some of his older sets (finding his live at SSL pickup set and A label party set was pretty cool).

i think i have decided that my taste varies from somewhere between ferry/armin through tiesto/pvd and goes to scot project.

i was listening to your speed mix from your site today...that's some really hard stuff there.

Posted by pvd420 on Jul-25-2005 04:22:

ha ha i just watched your video and i was probably standing right next to you when you took it. i was in that area on that side of the booth for most of the night. actually in fact i do recall when someone came over and used a camera for about a min. that must have been you. small world it is

Posted by dknylady on Jul-25-2005 04:30:

haha that's pretty funny! yeah i knelt down and took some vids of him.

yeah speed is hard that's the way i like it. of course i also spin hardstyle and u know that's even harder

Posted by trancintaiwan on Jul-25-2005 06:33:

i'll have to agree with dknylady when she said that he played a lot lighter than he usually does. his set actually reminded me of pvd for some reason.... some nice melodic trance mixed in with some tech-trance, hardhouse, and hard trance.

oh yea, and eddie lee killed it as usual.... i just love his track selection.... all the time. great prog house/prog trance set.
