djs agreements

ya'll think threre's an important remix agreement between djs ??

i call it "i remix you, you remix me agreement"

some examples

deep dish - say hello (pvd remix)
pvd - the other side (deep dish remix)

ferry corsten - punk (cosmic gate remix)
cosmic gate - the truth (ferry corsten remix)

ya'll think there's a mix agreement between djs ??

i call it "we produce together but we mix separate"

some examples

midor & six4eight vs 2xlc - beyond earth (midor & six4eight mix)
midor & six4eight vs 2xlc - beyond earth (2xlc mix)

its a bit more complicated than that. in the industry suppose
tiestor makes a ch00n. armin and markus decide to remix coldharbour style. so tiestor is like ok wtvr but we make a pact. and they get a needle, poke their fingers and put them together. blood is shared and t3h ch00n is made. after that tiestor decides to remix one of armins track and markus gets pissed cause he did the whole blood thing.

so markus bitches @ armada and armin and is like "yo wtf i heard from tigerpaw that tiestor aint mixing my shit" and armin is like "yo cause ur not in the top 5 of the dj list bitch!" so then markus is like "WTF!!!!!! i created melodic progressive trance.." and then tiestor is like SIKE ill remix ur shit. and makes a tiestor remix and w00t he plays it in tiesto in concert and wins!

I'm sure not all remixes are commissioned - after all, Say Hello is being released on Positiva with Angello & Ingrosso and Chus & Cebellos mixes, as well as the PVD and Dylan Rhymes ones. I find it hard to imagine that a record company would order the A&I mix as well as the C&C, because to be honest, they aren't particularly unsimilar, and you would only expect one mix in that style to be commissioned.

A&I + C&C because the Angello & Ingrosso one is in HEAVY demand
PvD + Dylan Rhymes because the PvD one is in HEAVY demand

two records being bought = more money

Oh, I realise that, but I'm saying that if I were them, I wouldn't comission two mixes in the same style, as they appear to have done, simply because that way you limit the number of people buying the record, with 3 styles, rather than 4. On the other hand, they will want to release the most popular mixes. I think that I'm trying to say that the label would not comission both, and so one must have been done uncommissioned.

of course. ive done remix swaps in the past. lnq / space guitar remixes were a swap. and in love theme dusk, we each made a mix (me and the signalrunners)
