Exclamation Leakers

The whole mp3 download deal has been done to death and there will always be difference of opinions.

This thread is about the peoeple who actually leak the tunes

I mean the guys trusted by the labels and artists who get tunes before the general public and leak them.

This genuinly hurts releases, sometimes even cancells them.

How can you fucks do it ? does it make u feel all fuzzy inside knowing that youre the one who leaked the new G&D production, or some new Schulz remix ?

What gain do you get from this ? Money ? Sluts ? what is it ?
What can drive you to do shit like this ?

I want to hear from leakers on this subject, as I know there are quite a few on this board

Discuss

I know a few people who give me hook-ups to REALLY new and unreleased tracks that they get directly from labels or DJs who get from labels. I dont leak them. i actually respect the music and although its not right that i have it in the first place, i dont leak them off onto the p2p's. i dont see the point. why cause an instant classic track to get cancelled because everyone has mp3s and no one wants to get the vinyl.. ghey... although i would buy the vinyl anyway

Posted by nchs09 on Jul-25-2005 06:51:

i dont get cdr's

Posted by isoterra on Jul-25-2005 06:58:

i won't share anything until it's released/widely available on p2p. in that case people are going to be searching for/downloading it either way and i figure one extra source won't make any difference. tunes that get sent specifically to me from friends etc will stay in an unshared folder until that point

Posted by Aiwendil on Jul-25-2005 07:00:

I get as many G+D promos as I can and leak them to every torrent and p2p out there. That way I can piss off tightwads like you.

Still waiting for the leaker's take on this

Posted by sigmanova on Jul-25-2005 07:52:

everyone is going to say, "well anything i get i'll just keep in my unreleased folder" or "i buy everything i download".

i'm not a leaker but i have a profound respect and understanding of the trance scene and mp3 scene in general.

some do it for the glory of being the first to bring it out. some do it just to piss the label off. most of the time the leakers leak to private places that are meant to stay private. it's people who distribute it down to the lower levels that exclusive and rare music find its way onto p2p who are the real "leakers".

and some do it to share the beautiful music with those who can't afford to buy every single piece of music that gets released or cannot afford the equipment to play the music that's carried on vinyls.

i'm inclined to think its the last one but of course everyone is entitled to think what they want to think.

anyway that's all i have to say. again i'm not a leaker. just someone who loves the trance for what it is and will support it for many years down the road.

If it weren't for those leakers, I would have my hands on half the trance I have today, and I don't mean actually own, but actually know about. You know how hard it is to find good trance nowadays?
I say let the leakers do thier thing, spread the wealth, and the knowledge. Why should people be left in the dark about what's hot and new?
They're not doing it for the money, thy're doing it so people like you and I can all be on the same page.
Even Armin says that if it were'nt for the interent, he wouldn't be where he is today.
Meh, my opinion i guess.

There is a difference between leaking tracks that are released wich isnt going to stop and is fine with me

and with tracks that arent even signed to a label which can cause the tracks to never get a release

You can't blame it all on the rippers ... label's/artists have to take their responsibility too. Evidently the likes of G&D, Markus Schulz, etc are frequently doing something wrong if their stuff repeatedly keeps leaking ... all it'd take would be to add a signature sound to each CDR they send out and they'd soon find a culprit. It's funny that it doesn't seem to be a problem for artists like John Askew & Paul van Dyk ... obviously they're slightly more cautious with who they send what to.

i would be interested in a genuine response from an ex-leaker turned good
you know who you are

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jul-25-2005 12:52:

I have a feeling some artists deliberately leak their own stuff...

Does it start with S and end with mcut?

You know what else has been done to death?

Threads about mp3 leakers and leaking.

Posted by THE_Chris on Jul-25-2005 18:49:

Two things need to be done.

Labels need to watermark.
Labels need to be more watertight.

Vandit do it. How come you never see a really early leaked copy of Vandits work?

J00f new White Label Republic got leaked 2 months before release - I've been vocal about this on here cos it pissed me off. Bullshit to this 'try before you buy - I'll get it when its released' stuff, no you all wont. Guaranteed. Obviously someone somewhere leaked it, who did it isnt known. J00f is a great label, but a hole needs to be plugged somewhere.

Vandits TPOD2 is finished. But no-one even knows the full tracklist, let alone has a rip of it. Thats how it should be. The public should not be able to get their hands on it until release. Whatever you say about Vandit holding back on tunes etc, you have to admit they are watertight.

IMO sharing singles in any way is wrong. Digital Download stores are there for that - buy the damn tune. Its cheap now and you dont get raped for postage. Of course getting exposure for an unsigned tune is ok, but perhaps only 96kb versions should be spread.

And dont whine about not being able to hear the latest tunes - thats what livesets are for.

Download & share livesets, not singles.

I like leaks for the .nfos. All the colour ASCII art and words and shit. It's like a present!

the tracklist is on pauls site...

90% of vandit releases, were previously released somewhere else, so they are not holding back much.

Inevitably its down to a misplacement of trust. Artists might share their tracks with people they feel they can trust, most of the time they probably can trust them not to share. But then the fun starts. It gets passed on from there to one of the guys friends who he feels he can trust.

Eventually it falls into sharing networks because the 'leaker' wants to be seen as 'leet' for having these tracks and wants to feel all big and mighty for having such exclusive material.

Posted by gd_nimrod on Jul-25-2005 18:52:

fuck you tayfoon

There will always be leakage like there will always be pirating and like there will always be thieves.

Deal with it.

Posted by swisstoni_uk on Jul-25-2005 18:55:

Also to add, i'd imagine a lot of leaked material is actually produced by young internet using producers with little experience of the producing world. Leon Bolier and Jonas Steur spring to mind....

Posted by Tayfoon on Jul-25-2005 19:06:

Leon's Back In The Days was recently leaked wich is pretty damn weak, there is no release date but the track is out there, as his agent this doesnt make me happy

Weve still yet to hear from the leakers, come on Arturob tell us a story

Posted by TweeK on Jul-25-2005 19:08:

Keep talking....

I see a big flame war coming....ill just sit back an watch

I have to go to the restroom and take a leak now.

Kthnxbye
