Armin Only! The Gallery, London, August 26th 2005

Coincidentally enough, August 26th 2005 is THE DAY that I am arriving in London for the start of a 4-month Europe trip, and I want to start this trip off with a BANG! Never seen Armin...never been to a European rave/party, and I'm VERY excited to see this!

But...

I need some info and advice. For example, how do European clubs differ from U.S. clubs? One thing I notice that the Gallery demands is 'no white trainers'. I'm assuming this means no white tennis shoes, but will other light colors do? Can't be white on the bottom so as not to scuff the floor, or can't be white at all?

Also...

I'm of course going to want to be out of my brains when I see Armin spin for 8-hours, and I'm assuming this will not be much of an obstacle for me to achieve once inside the Gallery. Is this accurate?

And...

what must I refrain from doing, and what should I not forget to do?

Pretty broad questions, but was hoping for some guidance...Coming from a different country (run by a sack of shit, incidentally), I may not know how to act in a club...so just trying to ask about before going to make sure I have a good time

Well I wouldn't advise wearing sneakers, and once you're inside it's no problem to get wasted but drinks are expensive, and it's known to be hot too
Otherwise just relax and enjoy, it's a club like any other.

Dont wear trainers in london, darker shoes are better. Its not like the US with all that sportswear, the styles are different over here.

You must refrain from sitting down, and are must dance and enjoy Bring some ID too, and you will need cash, its damned expensive to drink.

I'm very excited about this! Not only have I never seen Armin before, I've never seen one DJ - especially one that I particularly enjoy - spin for 8 hours.

Oh, incidentally, when I said I was of course going to want to be out of my brains, I didn't mean drinking, but pills. I assume there will probably be no obstacles in this regard either?

Fella.... am a Gallery member myself, and go at least once/month. The whole place is very relaxed and a bit eccentric. I've NEVER known anyone to be denied due to dress regs. My boyfriend wears trainers (blue ones) every time we go. Defo a jeans/t-shirt venue - don't bother dressing up. You will be OK once you're inside as far as other entertainment goes - people offer you stuff all over the place. The door has a basic pat down, but nothing to stringent as far as searches go. Drinks are pricey, as you'd expect. Top tip for the water - there's a cold drinking water fountain at the very back of the club next to the cloakroom desk. The Armin parties are usually pretty hugely packed. Last time we went, people were queing for over an hour at 12.30am - I'd advise going about 11 or else buy your ticket online. Other than that, enjoy the club that continually has the best dj line ups in London!
