audiophile 192 settings...

okay, so i bought and installed the audiophile 192 today... im using flstudio and i chose the ASIO drivers, somehow i thought it made sense.. well, problem is, suddenly the cpu meter in fl went up from 5-10% to 50% i sorted that out by turning up the buffer size... is 1024 samples enough? or should i make the leap to 2048? or should i just select another driver??

another thing is, where the hell do i find that settings window? i know i can find it in fl, but when im not in fl, i still need sounds, and its annoying to have to go into fl just to change the sound level..

any1 care to give me pointers?

I use the same card, I use the 2048 buffer rate. Any others and my cpu overloads quick. Try them all out and see what works best.

do u use the ASIO drivers as well?
found the control panel thingie tho :P

well the larger your sample rate, the larger the latency will be (and you don't want that during your production)
so make the buffer size as small as possible during production (256 samples i would recommend) and when you are playing back the track / editing, increase your buffer size to 1024 or 20468

I do everything at 14,100 samplerate and yes I use the asio driver w/ cubase

Hey I got a little problem here that i'd like to put out there while I got the attention of all the 192 users.

Basically for some reason anything that is connected to the inputs wont play through the main out. Like, I connect my mixer up and throw on a vinyl and it should play right away through the speakers. I can see that the signal is coming in by looking at the dB meters in the control panel. Funny thing is, when i open up Ableton live, and hit the record button, it actually plays the signal coming in the inputs. Weeeeird. But i just can't get it to play through normally. I would just do it through ableton but there is a slight delay and that's no good for what i'm doing.

I tried updating and re-installing the drivers. No go.

That is weird. If it works in ableton it should also work regularly. Mine works when I have my mixer hooked up right when I turn it on, no programs or anything. If you tried reinstalling the drivers, I would call the tech support. I had to call once and had to wait forever and I dont think it was a free call either. It was long distance for me but they did help me out.

check your routing ... could be something there....somethimes i have the same problem cause i rout the signal in wrong channels or outputs.

not sure if this is it... but I have this card too and i know what i play comes directly out of the monitor outputs (not the main outputs) because direct monitoring is turned on... i can only get sound out of the main out when playing back through a sequencer / winamp so far...

man... that's weird... i have a 2.8 and it works perfectly fine at 256 samples (5 ms)... the only thing i can think of (which i assume you know) is to make sure you are choosing the ASIO driver from the m-audio delta... and not the directx ASIO (or any other asio drivers)

good luck

I picked up a Firewire Solo yesterday and have the exact same behavior. I'm not exactly sure why it's happening, but I hope to sort it out when I get home tonight and will post here with any developments.

its really weird.. on the old sound card it was usually the other way around.. eg low vol on fl and high on other stuff...

You know my shit does that to. What I found is that when I leave my computer on(usually days), it seems everyday the volume gets lower and lower. I dont know if its the heat or what, but i can restart my computer and the volume will be normal again but after a few min it goes right back down to where it was. I now turn my computer off everynight and havent had the problem since. A quick fix is to uninstall the drivers and re-install them. That worked for me. I think though that it has to do with leaving your computer on for a long time, at least mine is.
