Original thread:
Alright, It's been a while since I posted here, so I thought it was time to put up something to show I'm still in business

This track is called "Need For Cognition" and are a prog trancer with some deep bassline, vocal dubs and so on.

A bit short sample, but check it out:
Hawk - Need For Cognition (Sample)

Some response would be great!

mate. im pretty new here so i hav nt heared any of your previous work but this sample is really nice and deep. with very nice layers.

the only thing i was a bit unkeen on was the vocal sounding synth sound.

hope to hear the full version cos id definately play this track in a set before everything got more progressive techy.

lush work 9.2/10

Hello

I agree with Rich.this vox synth sound is'nt good for that cool trancy tune...

Very well produced...

very good atmosphere...

I think 9,5/10

Ey yo!
I'm not sure what you mean by vox synth, but there are some real vocal dubs there, is it those you mean?
They kind of make the track in the rest of the tune you see
thanks for the comments!

Anyone else?

Posted by richg101 on Jul-28-2005 12:42:

hey hawk.

on first listening i was nt sure about the vocal dub.

listened to it a few times now and i think i was wrong in my opinion and statement. maybe the vocal is just a bit prominent for my liking

ill look out for the realese

cheers mate.

Lovely. All of your stuff is class, mate.

Are you going to be able to get Space Between signed anytime?

Posted by Hawk L on Jul-31-2005 00:49:

Lovely feedback! just great guys!
It seems like space between wont be signed bacuse i`ve had it up the full track on my website a long time. Cause I care about you guys, you know, hehe...
Well, look out for the release of "need for cognition" on anunadeep in the beginning of October.
Please, more feedback! (Sorry for the writing errors, Im kind of drunk, and just home from summerparade in Oslo)

wow.... good stuff!! i love this kinda music, very relaxed. very well done with that bass.

but that sample was too short. you can treat your fellow TAs to a longer sample!

anyways, just wondering what platform your produce on. keep it up

Loved this deffo would drop in a set top work and congrats onthe signing dewd

Posted by Chris Larkin on Aug-01-2005 19:06:

So... erm...

If Space Between isn't getting a label release, would you please put the full version up for download on your website then? It's a cracking tune, and it would be wonderful if we could have a mixable version.

Thanks.

Judging from this really small sample, it sounds to be a very good prog track so far. This is a style I have been digging and listening to a lot lately.

I can def imagine M.Schulz giving this track a spin.

Great atmosphere, love the delay on the squary-type sound.

Good use of Reveerb, and the Eq is top notch and pro quality (from what I hear).

Congrats on the release.

A well deserved release imo. It sounds really great, the melodies are very nice and the sounds you use are superb. Good luck with the release.

Hey mate, just had a listen to this thanks to James @ Anjuna (I work at a record shop and we're doing our ordering) and I reckon its brilliant. I reckon the Anjunadeep label will go quite far (and keep the elel tracks in my record box great company). Will keep eyes peeled for further releases.

Posted by d-miurge on Sep-04-2005 10:20:

all sound nice except the kind of square lead, coming at 44 sec.

Good work!

Posted by Hawk L on Sep-04-2005 10:35:

Glad you guys like it, and I appreciate the feedback.
Looks like the track will be available in October sometime. Sou you all better get a copy
Its already been track on the week by Above & Beyond on TATW74, and Armin played it on ASOT211 (so grab a copy of those sets if you wanna hear the whole tune).

Look out for tracks and remixes under my alias Hawk/HKN on other labels aswell.
Cheers!

Really nice track dude, though I don't like the gated vox type thing which IMO makes it sound less original and more just along the lines of a Whiteroom ripoff or something =P Impossible to fault the production value; would definitely sound sweet at the club.

I hate hakon because he won't post a larger sample

Haha... I guess that would be me since Haak doesnt have anything to do with this tune Anyways, me and Haak have the same REAL name = Hkon. Very regular name in Norway... Hopefully Hawk/Haak wont cause much confusion.
Btw, Haak are a great guy and a very good producer, just so that is said

Oh, regarding the sample length: hehe, I know!

(Just wait till you hear the remix of Need For Cognition... Ill tell who made it when I am allowed to do so)
