O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Such a Canadian thing to do, argue over a frosty island that no one can live on and serves no purpose.

The 1995 fish war with Spain was just as horrendous, except we actually boarded some of their ships and fired at them.

Either way, I'm pretty sure if this situation escalates we know who'll win :P I mean what's Denmark's population and military size in comparisson?

let's invade danmark !

uh dude, it serves a purpose.

extend the exlcuive maritime economic zone.

in simple words, that whatever precious ressource is on and around that island for 200 nautical miles will be owned by the country taking the island... Even if we don't know whats beneath, maybe nothing, why let it go? Its our land.

But I thought you were smarter than that ;-)

"Notwithstanding the disputed area, the Canadian Foreign Affairs Ministry is allowing its cafeteria to sell Danish pastries as a goodwill gesture towards the Danish government and people," ministry spokesman Reynald Doiron said.

Spain sucks cause they've been hunting and fishing our waters, killing off most of the right, and bowhead whales as well as fishing cod and seals. They've been over here doing that for the last 500 years about time we stopped those nazi spaniards.

Anyways yes that Island is completly useless and denmark is cool. We should claim it as ours than give it to denmark as a gift. They'll love us than, which would be way cool.

Oh and denmark is the home of Bang & Olufsen so they're just smarter than us and will somehow use their brains to win a war against us.

There's no resources on that island. However around it they're maybe whales which iceland likes hunt. But more importantly the north is melting and the north west passage may become a place that is used for shipping in the near future. If so who ever owns that island may have more power over transportation in that region.

True but if you take a look at a pic of the island its just a rock in the ocean. Maybe there is something worth while there.

Well if there were so many precious resources on and around it... Why have Canada and Denmark, for the past number of decades simply agreed to disagree over the island? If it really was THAT important, or if either government thought there was something VERY important about it, this situation would have been solved years and years ago, just because both countries would have found some solution instead of just putting it off and putting it off and... ya you get the point.

I quote:

"Taksoe-Jensen says Denmark is ready to start negotiations over Hans Island but it's not a TOP PRIORITY. He says there are more important issues to settle between the two countries, including a three-kilometre long boundary line that hasn't been clearly divided in the Davis Strait between Canada and Greenland which could have an impact on fishing rights."

That being said... I hope we woop their ass if they try and stick another flag there.

Pastrie heads...
