Underground Music...

so why is it that some people just have to like a song or a dj that no one has heard of, or doesnt think much of

i myself, am the same way and can honestly say once a song becomes famous..i move on..

also, ORY, a member of the forums is quite the critic of popular stuff, and i am just a lil curious of what kind of music he likes..(i am being totally serious, i really want to know what kind of stuff you listen to ory...)

and if u have nothing good to say, please just ignore..i am just expressing current thoughts and questions...

I don't have a problem with popular music. As long as it wasn't made just to make money, 'cuz then it's obviously shit music.

Eventually you run out of popular music to listen to, so where do you go? It's not that I listen to "underground" music anyway, but it isn't talked about here much.

As far as I'm concerned, I listen to music that's made above ground. Some of it may be obscure and outlandish and unknown, but always above ground, mind you.

Excuse me, mister "if it becomes popular I move on"..

Do you realize your tastes are affected by the masses and the media as much as everybody else here?

Posted by kutvolkots on Jul-30-2005 00:00:

The problem is that what I, or if you may "we" find 'good' is most of the time not really material for the charts. The charts play popmusic, trance isn't if you make trance so that it's chartfit it moves more to popmusic and less to trance so someone who likes trance won't like it anymore.

And then you have the problem with 'classics' for some reason people tend to see it as a good thing if a song get's 'classic' status in trance. Mind that it were always the more chatchy yes with less complex emotion pieaces that became classic, out of the blue, syastheasia, the beaty of silence, airwave etc.

It's a but ignorant still arrogant to say that trance escapes what happens in popmusic, the higher a song ends up in the charts, the more catchy yet less complex the emotions in the song are. Sure, trance is a lot more dramatic and has a lot more complex emotions than popmusic but it's always the catchy and less complex stuff that apeals to most people in the trance scence.

I think I can savely say I'm more 'underground' than most people on this board, a good thing I don't know, So I prefer the complex psychological emotions of Arksun above the catchy melodies of Jonas Steur. Well, my loss really. If I liked Black Eyed Peas* I could just run into the local recordstore and get 'Don't phunk with my heart', Now I have to dig of all kinds of online sites, get a creditcard rspessicaly to buy Arksuns albums online. I need a vinyl player to play his singles etc.

The underground still remains a minority, It's far less interresting for radio stations and music channels to play the songs I like, or for record stores to sell them. Like what happened to ID&T Radio, I always thought It was a bit commercial but it went worse and worse. Now it's slam FM, never checked that really. Probably non stop cheese but I'm not sure of that.

You could bring up arguments like "Underground music provides more information for the brain to process thus it's better music." I did that for a time but you can't deny it, It doesn't matter it's just taste, I like a lot of information to my brain. Others don't. Underground people will continue to say that they're 'kvlt' because they are underground and mainstream people will say that they are 'cool' because they're hip. Quite easy to say that your own way is the best isn't it. Everyone says it, why should I be right and for a time I thought I was.

I like to be outcasted from society, to be a part of nothing.Call me underground or not, I call myself unfit as a human because there's something wrong with my insticts to be a part of something and thus reproduce. Sure, my thoughts just as from a lot of people who are underground come from reason over immitation. But that's where we are effectivly wrong, humans are life, we need to immitate to survive.

And I hate all live.

I don't think you'd know 'underground' if it hit you point blank in the face.

The dumbest thing i have ever heard.

So evry song that has got to number 1 ever has had absolutely no emotion.

STFU.

Posted by kutvolkots on Jul-30-2005 00:16:

I didn't say that, I sad the emotions are less complex, you can't tell me that things like the ketchup song and jan wayne have complex emotions do you?

I never less that a less complex emotion was a less strong emotion.

I've got synastheasia, I can tell by the colours.

Just because a couple of tracks that acutally have no emotion get to number 1 doesn't mean all the tracks in pop music history have no emotion.

Sinead O'Connor - 'Nothing Compares To You' has emotion overload and that got to number 1.

Posted by flavdave on Jul-30-2005 00:36:

What the fuck is a "complex emotion"?
