In the spirit of Airdrawndagger?

What are some tracks or cds similar to the style of airdrawndagger? I love that album (especially wavy gravy) and havent heard a lot similar to it..

And what is your favorite track off of Airdrawn dagger?

ehhhh, kinda hard since it was so original and diverse .

Try Digital Witchcraft. Amazing melodic breaks.

Digital Witchcraft - Kaylee's Blanket
Digital Witchcraft - Snowday
Digital Witchcraft - Fingerpaint

These are a bit harder breaks, but they might do the trick.

Chable & The Dirty Fours - Tokyo (Nubreed Mix)
Bedrock - Emerald (Grayarea's Speakeasy Remix)

Check other mixes/compilations Sasha has done, similar tracks there.

Lostep - Burma

And yes, Wavy Gravy has got to be the best track on that album, if not ever .

nikola gala - A Dream Came Through
this track is long and uplifting... dont subestimate this prog...

i think its under-rated. ahh, makes me feel like i'm drying in the hot sun after a day of swimming.

i really don't know anything similar. sure its chill-out/melodic breaks, but its has such a unique vibe. I guess look through some cafe del mar compilations....

Digital Witchcraft really produces some kickass top notch breaks, i heard a set from Oslo Nights with DW, really kicking. Never got boring, never got sleepy.. just.. good.

Single Cell Orchestra - Single Cell Orchestra

Actually I guess you'd say Airdrawndagger is in the style of this, since this has tracks from '92-'96.

Sasha also borrowed many elements from Susumu Yokota's Sakura album. Listen to it and you'll definitely hear the similarities. I believe even Charlie May stated this in one of those Ministry magazines.

Well i'd assume there are a lot of albums you've missed to hear about until now. What's special about this one to you?

I don't know quite yet what is so special about it until i take a closer listen to it. I just enjoy collecting old dusted CDs from the times about a decade ago as most of them are much much better than anything released nowadays, depending that the old ones really are worth getting of course. And i have noticed you seem to like some quality tunes so why not?

Posted by Aiwendil on Aug-02-2005 22:49:

In general i'm not into the whole ambient progressive breaks Schnauss ADD Digital Witchcraft post 2000 thing, the breakbeats are too weak. The drum programming doesn't seem well thought out. Everyone raves over the melodies anyway. All this new stuff is basically a few layers of 2 or 3 note melody on top of a weak breakbeat. What I like about the SCO album is that the breaks are strong and not in the background, they're offset with interesting percussion and are interestingly programmed, and the melody is still there. The tracks have a more rhythmic overtone. Another example: Finitribe - 101.93.
