A few times every year some random publication comes out with it's "Top x Games of All Time..." This is just one more...

Though I did think it was nice that #10 was Super Metroid, one of my favorite games of all time, this is definitely a list I have a hard time agreeing with in a lot of areas...

Another Video Game thread for teh CORe...

it's all circumstancial . . . these lists never work for me . .cz everyone has different tastes. just cuz 9817324 people bought the game doesn't mean it's the est game ever. look at mario cart. i bet almost eveyrone who has a n64 has that game, but does that mean it's their favorite?

Tetris should have been #2... if not #1.

I didn't think it was good enough to make top 100, but hey, it wasn't done then..

This game actually holds a lot of credibility in the gaming community for some reason. I can't comment, having never played it, but the general consensous is that it's one of the few really great 3rd party platformers...

Ubisoft is a sick developer in general...

Edit: And sEpH, I totally agree... I thought FF VII was rated exceptionally low...

Secret of Mana & Chrono Trigger are up there on my favorite games of all time! definitely an interesting read

1)Half life
2)Mario bros 3 (kick arse)
3)Homeworld
4)Black and white
5)Caesar II

The last console that I even touched was the N64. I love Super Smash, and still play it with friends to this day.

My top ten games of all time are as follows (in order according to how much time I have spent playing them, lifetime)...

01. Tetris (NES)
02. Super Mario Brothers III (NES)*
02. Counter-Strike (PC)
04. Super Contra (NES)
05. Super Smash Brothers (N64)
06. WarCraft III (PC)
07. World of WarCraft
08. Unreal Tournament (PC)
09. Descent & Descent II (PC)**
10. Gradius (NES)***

* For those who have seen the video from the kid that beats the game in like eleven minutes or whatever... I'm about as good at SMB3 as he is. It's disgusting, to be honest, and I'm not proud of it.

** Descent and Descent II were the REASON to own a joystick back in the day. Screw Descent III and Freespace, though. Those games sucked.

*** If any of you have ever played this lesser-known game, you'll understand why it's on my list.

Aaron - You saw they have a decent amount of PC games on the list, right?

And for the record: I've got you on Gradius, great game. But that video of the kid beating Mario 3 is phony as hell...

I was going to say the exact same thing... but then i remembered after going camping for 2 weeks while testing some crap for work..i literally became addicted to Pokemon (it came free with the gamebody). Everybody laughed at me since i was a early 20 yr old kid playing Pokemon on gameboy. A few month later i let some co-worker use some games but told him he was not allowed to erase my Pokemon game (even though i already beat it.) One day i get waken up around 3am via a satillete phone to ask me if he can erase my game so he can save. He got addicted...as well as everybody that played the game afterwards.

But how can NONE OF THE ORGINAL ZELDA's BE ON THE LIST! especaially the first one! grrrr. that's lame. Super Smash Brother made the list, but not The Legend of Zelda for NES?

Street Fighter II series should be on there too.

lame one... how can a 2004 game be in ALL-TIME BEST? shouldn't it take some time-testing of at least 5-6 years, to see if anyone even remembers it after that time?

Quake and Doom/Doom II - god knows where...
Dune II - 35th
Fallout - 55th.
Warcraft II - god knows where.
Syndicate - 74th.
Prince of Persia II - higher than Prince of Persia (which is 85th).
Counter-Strike - 71th(!!!!)
Master of Orion - 90th
Contra - 83d.

AND YET... we some some pathetic titles which will not be remembered in a couple of years... Burnout 3 - 27th. Steve Madden NFL 2004 (they make like a new version every year) ABOVE THE FUCKING DOOM!!!

why is ffiv ranked higher than vi, or vii for that matter?
where's super punchout!!?
why is god of war on there?
why is wing commander 2 on there, but not 3?

The only thing I can dispute that you stated good sire is the FF IV statement... that game definitely laid the groundwork for the entire rest of the series, and I definitely think it should be rated greatest FF of all time...

How fucking FF X even made it on there is beyond me...
