I've never had trouble with drums, but Tweak's tutorial is something you might want to have a look at.

great synth work can make the simplest percussions sound good, or vica verca

I'd suggest picking up the Vengeance Essential Clubsounds Vol1 sample cd from http://www.vengeance-sound.de. It contains alot of good percussion samples to use and loops you can use underneath your drum samples.

Cheers,
Wim

using loops is not a good idea imho... you gotta be able to create your OWN good percussions.

Plus, loops clash with your own percussion.

Using loops as the main percussion = bad
Using loops to spice up your own percs = good

A speeded up hip hop loop might actually sound good in the background... don't be afraid to experiment...

experiment - you might create something new

Creating your own loops and using them = good

well it's all about your conscience for instance Lange used loops from Stylus in X Equals 69... but it's still a good tune. But personally I'd prefere to make all my percussions from ZERO

Using loops for main percussion is a bit lazy in my opinion, hats, claps and kicks should all be done using one shots so u can compress and eq them seperately,

Using loops to fill your track on the hand is great, canga loops, toms etc,

experimentation is the key tho,

keep it origional
