Overpaid Athletes
I got a question, who is overpaid and useless in the world of sports.
In basketball, the sonics had jim M, who got 35million over 7 yrs, A-Rod's deal was pathetic. Name me any players from any sports, who is overpaid in your mind?
Weel vince carter get over paid...about 96million dollars over paid but, hes useful hes good :/

A-Rod
I used to go to an Oriole game twice a month; but I've been really disappointed with Baseball after the A-rod deal and didn't go to any Baseball games at all this past season.
If this goes on, sports are gonna collapse. Shawn Kemp is getting atleast $10 mil/year now. Kevin Garnett gets $19 million/year and you guys forgot about Michael Schumacher, the highest paid athlete at $37 million/ year.
Ill tell you right now and so will any economics professor..You couldnt spend $10 million if you tryed to. These athletes wipe their asses with hundred dollar bills. A-Rod doesnt even deserve $250 Million for 10 years. And when a new stadium gets built, thats the tax payers money. Our money.
Michael Jordan could have gotten $25 million for this year easily, but as you can see..hes already set for life and all hes gonna make this year from the NBA alone is $1 million.

well its obvious that all these salaries are gonna come up soon and bite the owners and players in the ass. if im not mistaken, both the nba's and major league baseball's collective bargining agreements are expiring within the next 5-6 years and if you think the salaries are bad now just wait until then. the only question it will there still be any fans left to watch the games? i think every league(nhl, nba, mlb)needs to put aside there egos and wallets and take a cue from the nlf and work on a salary cap and revenue sharing. thats why unlike the other leagues smaller markets like green bay and cincinati are able to thrive and still do good business.
well it might seem like they are overpaid, but what are they paid for, they are paid to entertain us right, so i would they are only overpaid if they dont entertain very well, vince carter does a good job in basketball therefore entertains us,therefore gets a better salary

well, these people are getting paid becuase people want to watch them play.. so unless you never watch another sporting in your life, you should probably keep your mouths shut
laugh. every athlete except for amateurs are overpaid.
these guys are paid with multi-million dollar contracts to play a "children's" game. they're getting their big fat pay cuz the fans have to cough it up through jacked up ticket prices.
yeah, give me a bat. i'll swing at balls for 15 mil a season.
baseball players are such wimps too.
sprain a thumb, out for half the season. biiitches.
i forgot the mention that they are the best at what they do, the games might seem like "children's games" but all the work that they put into it, it isnt like they just go out and play, they practice always and stay in good shape. i mean, like the best brain surgeon in the world probably charges a lot cuz he is the best at what he does, i am not saying all these sports help out the world, but they are the best at what htey do, i am not trying to justify their big salaries though, because i am sure they can live on much less than that, but what about actors, i heard of some actors gettign 20 million for a movie. If you wanna strike it big, entertainment is the way to go, but less taht 1% of the population will get into entertainment, (movies) or (sports)

haha haha. sorry. not laughing at you.
i think it's ridiculous, personally. who really cares if they are the best at swinging a bat to hit a leather ball and run around some canvas bags. woooooo. they really earn that money don't they? even if i was the best brain surgeon in the world, wouldn't you laugh at me if i asked you for 26 mil to operate?
as for actors, ha. don't get me started there. "sure, this is a great script! i love it! how much are you going to pay me? sorry, i demand 20 million dollars for every movie i make. because i deserve it."

sure they're the best at what they do but how can anyone justify one person making 252 million dollars over 10 years to play baseball while the best fire fighters are making WAY less than that and i'm sure you can come up with even better examples or comparisons. the players want more money but its always the fans who are hurt more than the owners cuz all the rich bastard has to do is raise ticket prices and look for more sponsers or wutever. there's gotta be a happy medium here. player salaries should drop along with ticket prices. games will be affordable to attend for everyone once again. i mean the top baseball player (a-rod for example), if he's smart with his money he could have easily been set for life with a 50 million dollar contract over 10 years instead of 252 million. wouldn't you agree?
btw the entertainment business (movies, tv, commercial music) is complete horseshit.
heh, doesn't it just make you sick? to know that even those brave men and women who helped out at the WTC (all the firemen, police, emerg help) they got payed complete shit in comparrison to tom fucking cruise. it's too easy to rant on shit like this. i hate it. i think i'm going to rant in the chill out room about this shit.

yea, i dont really agree with their salary, but that is what it happens to be, and they are greedy, i'll admit that, and check, how many people get to be president of usa, and his salary is 200,000 a year, that is ridiculous, my uncle makes more than the president of the united states and the president runs this whole country
Well, the reason they get paid so much is because you people worship them so much, they get into this state of mind that they can suck as much money out of you as possible... and no, I am not paying $12 to go see a new fucken movie in a theatre if I can see it 6 months later on a video almost for free... and no, I ain't paying $75 just to get a decent 200 feet away from the floor seats for the NBA games if I can see them for free on TV...
That is just a complete bullshit, and no, it's not even about entertainment, sports and fans anymore (well, most of the time), it's all about the money, and if you tell me it's not, I'll have to kick you in the head and call you a liar, 'cuz you obviously don't know jack shit...
no fantom. i will not call you a liar. you are a hundred percent rite. every since free agency was introduced it seems like the players care less and less about the fans and more about cashing their paychecks. i also will not pay $50 for rangers tickets or $45 for bleacher seats to a yankees game. but i will pay to see a minor leauge game.

Overpaid I would have to say Eric Lindros he is one hit a way from being a vegtable
This is why the Olympics is a great sporting event. (with the exception of the US dream team), these athletes don't get paid shit yet they are capable of "entertaining" the entire world -- not only that they work their ass off without a million dollar incentive. I also enjoy watching college basketball because of the same reason.
